So my Fitbit has officially stopped holding a charge, which is rather bad timing. What kind of watches do you have to track exercise and steps to keep you motivated? Any suggestions on a new one for me?? I currently have the charge 2 I believe.

I have an Apple Watch, too. And closing out my three rings (exercise, move, stand) each day keeps me really motivated.

Thanks everyone! I’ll keep this in mind as I’m looking!

  • I just wanted to share some excited wins. So I decided to purchase a treadly for myself so that I could make sure I am getting more walking/jogging in and being more intentional with my time. If I want to watch a show, fine, but I will walk. If I want to scroll Instagram or tik tok, get on the treadmill. My kids have also been using it. Then, treadly asked me to be an affiliate so even more reason to be excited! And people are using my link whoop whoop winning. But also I am doing 3 StepBet and totally crushing all 3 now that I have access to be able to move more! I am so happy about this. And….the scale is moving down. Positivity across the board!

September 25 -26: The Weekend!

So we've made the commitment. We are continuing to stay focused on the goal. But making the commitment and focusing on it aren't all we need to do to ensure success and create the self discipline to stick with it.

PRIORITIZE.
Do you have a task looming over you that is causing you stress? Or do you have a daily task(s) that is either time consuming, or stressful? Work on crossing it off your list. Even if you can't mark it as completed, working on it a little at a time can help reduce stress.

The added stress isn't doing you any favors. More time is being devoted to whatever the source is for that stress. And that leaves less time for you to work on the healthy habits you're trying to establish/build on.

The added stress can also result in missed workouts, less time for meal planning/prepping, poor food choices overall, etc. And guess what that can lead to? MORE stress!

Work on knocking out the most stressful tasks on your list first to help reduce stress.

This weekend's assignment:
Make time for yourself each day to just sit and be present - even if only for five minutes. Whether it's to kick off your day, sitting on a park bench during your lunch break, or a few minutes before bedtime, having a few minutes with no phones, no TV, no interruptions can help reduce your stress. Just breathe and focus on relaxing every muscle in your body as a way to either start your day, or finish your day.

Make yourself a priority!

What stressful task do you need to cross off your list this weekend?

PS - don't forget about the weekend step challenge, too! The weekend goal is to get a total of 17,000 steps combined between the two days. Check In will be up Monday morning.

Lots of tasks but 1 I need to get done is to make ghosts for our camping trip in 2 weeks. I've had the stuff for 3 weeks and still having found the time to get it done. Hopefully it will be at l east started tomorrow.

I love the tip of sitting with yourself and being present.

I have been working on cleaning, purging and organizing my apt. We are 5 people in a small place and the clutter makes me anxious. So each day I have been tackling one space and it feels so good!

September 24

First, I just emailed the randomly selected winner from Wednesday's challenge. This person has until 11:00 am EST tomorrow to reply. If I don't hear back by then, a new name will be selected. Be sure to check out the challenge details for the weekend challenge starting tomorrow. You'll find what you need on the post titled, Challenge Winner Board.

Earlier this week, I explained the difference between Motivation and Discipline.

Brief recap:
Motivation: the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way.

Self Discipline: the ability to control one's feelings and overcome one's weaknesses; the ability to pursue what one thinks is right despite temptations to abandon it.

Self Discipline is choosing between what you want NOW versus what you want MOST. Remember those thoughts or feelings that drove you to join this DietBet. You were motivated to join, but now that we're on Day 5 you need to build/establish or strengthen the self discipline that will push you closer to your goal.

Stay focused. Remember why you started. Make those hard decisions that will push you closer to that goal and give you a sense of pride at the end of the day.

May I suggest continuing to stay engaged with the group? Often times I see a lot of comments in the first few days and then that starts to wane as we progress through the challenge.

What is something you are doing now to strengthen your self discipline?

Doing personal development. And also I run a fitness accountability group via Facebook. That holds me accountable because as the leader of the group, these women look up to me. My group has been going strong now for 9 months and the women and I have become a family. This keeps me moving!!!

Katie H.

I love the comparison between motivation and self discipline. I often have lots of the first and not so much of the second! I've been pondering on these ideas ever since you posted. My weakness is stess snacking, so I put up notes reminding myself that I can say NO to the food I don't need.
