Hi guys. I am sitting in the parking lot of my spin class. I do not want to be here today. I’m tired. Drained. Completely unmotivated. I was trying to talk myself out of working out tonight.   • I’m feeling you on this. Missed 4 days of working out and I was feeling just lime you. Got it in today and i was re-invigorated. Even tho it wasn’t the best or hardest I’ve ever gone. It helped a lot. Good that you went. 85% of getting it done.

NSV: I have made it a habit of going to the gym every Saturday morning. The gym is usually nice and quiet because I use the gym at the university by us and all the college kids sleep late and are hung over on Saturday mornings. Today was the university's first home football game of the season and there was ZERO parking within a mile of the gym. If this was 3 months ago, I would have called it a free day off. Today, I found the closest parking lot and walked all the way to the gym and did my normal workout. Super proud of myself for sticking with my routine even when all the forces were working against me.

I need help. I am a banker and by the end of the day I barely have 4,500 steps. I have a family and household chores to get done at night. I go downstairs and get on the treadmill but usually only hit 8,000-9,000 steps. Any advice from others who have sitting jobs on how you make your steps happen everyday?

  • After almost 2 weeks of not working out thanks to knocking out my back, I AM BACK IN THE GAME!! I feel accomplished! I think in a weird way, that little unexpected break gave my body and mind a chance to recharge and I was able to come back swinging. Hooray!

My fiancé and I have the same birthday: August 31st. Last year we did a super fancy dinner and this year I told him we can’t since it’s right before weigh in.
So now we’re going for dinner on the 29th, and I figured I could stick to healthy choices and it will all be good. Then he tells me we don’t need to worry about ordering because the chefs will treat us (he knows them).

Thanks for the birthday wishes! And I had hoped to celebrate afterwards, but this is the only evening he has off with me for a while.
I will try to just eat minimal food earlier in the day, and get a workout in as well so I can enjoy the food!

I got home a lot later than normal today and the desire to stop and pick up food was ridiculously strong but I resisted. I don’t want to take the chance of sabotaging myself this close to the end of the round.

Happy Sunday Everyone! I’ve been MIA since I hurt my back. I worked out once last week and was feeling irritated that all my hard work was getting undone. I stuck to eating well and GUESS WHAT!!! This morning I weighed myself and I still lost weight! Huge sigh of relief and a major pat on the back for making good choices and NOT EATING MY FEELINGS LIKE I USED TO! Emotional eating was a problem for me - I would literally eat carbs until it made me so tired I could fall asleep. Yeah. Not doing that again. It’s tempting. But NO MORE! The 2nd month is almost done you guys! Thanks for all the motivation and good cheer!!!

Yes yes yes!!! Although exercise is a very good booster. And maybe you don’t have to do too much to see some benefits, eating is so much more important. You can easily undo any exercise achievements with some bad behaviors. I feel you on the emotional eating, but it sounds like you got this. Keep on the good work.

How do you guys find working out when you have a dog?

A roommate of mine had an older dog. She would get a baby carriage at a yard sale or thrift store and use it to push her dog in a walk. He enjoyed the view and she could go as far and as fast as she wanted.

Dogs love company. They probably don't care if you are lifting weights, riding an indoor bike, doing a workout video.... As long as they get to sit next to you. Hope the dog won't run off with the equipment :)

  • A friend reached out to us yesterday saying she was lonely & wanted to hang out over a glass of wine. Knowing this person, this was unusual. So, of course, my husband & I said yes & scrambled to put together a spread at the last minute. Needless to say, we went overboard & had way too much food & wine. But you now what? After a four hour conversation about food, wine, travel, dance and, yes, weight loss, we closed the evening with happy hugs, smiles on our faces & ZERO guilt about overindulging. We made our friend feel less lonely, we felt happy & all of us had a fantastic time. This is what cheat days are for - good food with good friends! We made up for it today with a long walk with our dog, serious weight training, as well as a healthy breakfast & lunch (well within our calorie goals). Tonight we’ll go dancing, burn off a few more calories & just might share an ice cream that’s being served at midnight. There’s nothing wrong with that! 😀 ???? 🍷 ???????? 🍨
