I’m 55. Diagnosed with Graves’ disease and hypothyroid in my early 30’s. Ever since weight loss has been very difficult. I managed to lose 18 lbs last year. Some of them at the beginning g of this diet bet. But now I’ve been stuck. Lost the last two weigh in’s. And I don’t think there is any way I’ll reach the next goal. Anyone have any tips? I do low carb/keto mainly. I’m not sure leaving the challenge is the answer. Because at least I’ve maintained and at least stayed within 2 pounds. Feeling a little discouraged. But I know I do have age and thyroid against me. 😞

Trying to maintain over the holidays and catch up after the holidays is a challenge! However, I think even if we didn't make the February 1st weigh-in, we put in a lot of great habits to catch up after the holidays and we can totally build on this to gain momentum this month. The things that works for me are drinking more water for more weight-loss and having good portions of veggies with every lunch and dinner. I also try not to snack between meals or after dinner anymore and I have healthy and nutritious foods at meals that keep me fuller than empty fast food meals would.

Thank you Jimmie and Alisha. Great thoughts to consider.

So……I didn’t make goal this month but I still lost 4 pounds since last month. I met goal last month and have lost 11 pounds since I have started this challenge so I will take it. Especially since I lost during the 2 hardest months of the year to lose, the holidays. Trying to look at the positives since it’s a process and even though small in December, I have made forward progress. I am congratulating all of us for being here and working on being the best people we can be! Cheers and Happy New Years to all!!!

I cannot seem to lose any weight this month. Stuck to my diet and worked out but nothing! I’m getting so frustrated. Now with Christmas coming up, I just don’t see how I’m going to make my goal by January 1

Omg SAME!!! I’m so frustrated. I’ve been so good and workout almost every day. And today I just weighed and weight the exact same as last week. There’s no way I can lose 3.5 lbs in 9 days. I just don’t understand.

Last round did not go well...so this round I decided to go on a 10 day sugar detox. These kinds of plans always help me lose weight because I usually have zero impulse control when it comes to carbs.
4lbs down so far!

One thing that helps me is intermittent fasting - having an 8 hour eating window. For some reason, it really dials down the cravings for me.

JimmieD - a group of nurses assessed glycemic load and glycemic index for about 1,000 foods. The study was based in Australia so many of the foods were produced there or in the UK. However there were a few items that were purportedly the same, but manufactured in different countries and it showed that US manufacturers (same brand, same food) created a product 33% higher in glycemic index for the US market than in the UK!

Has anyone here read Atomic Habits by James Clear? My favorite quote from the book is “You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.”

Two people can have the same goal, but the person with the system to get there is much more likely to at least move toward the goal. The goal for elite athletes is to win the tournament or the game or the gold medal, but the one who will is usually the one with consistant effort in a strong system.

Thanks so much for sharing this! I’ve been skating along with choir and with learning Dutch only to realize this past week that if I really want to progress and enjoy I need a system and to put in the work everyday, like I do with walking and my health spreadsheet.

La Na S.

Right? We're taught how important goal setting is, but, even though it's logical if you think about it, we aren't taught that putting in systems and habits is the most important part.

Round 1 has ended! It's time to submit your official weigh-in for this round so you can start collecting cash if you win.

That means we're into Round 2! Keep yourself accountable by weighing in unofficially or by submitting progress weigh-ins through Membership. To reward players for consistency each Wednesday we’ll randomly reward an exciting progress prize to one or more players who submitted a Progress weigh-in during the 7 days leading up to the drawing. The next drawing is on Dec 2.. Any official weigh-in’s submitted within the 7-day Progress weigh-in window will automatically apply as the weeks Progress weigh-in. Remember, that only official, Referee-verified weigh-ins determine who wins. Your goal for Round 2 is 6% of your initial weight. Good luck!

Your weight at the end of this round (Nov 1 - Nov 30) is the beginning weight for round 2 (Dec 1 - Dec 31). You don't have to weigh in separately for round 2.
