Well I’m apparently on the covid diet. There’s no taste or smell AT ALL, and it’s seriously messed with my morale. My stomach also doesn’t know when it’s hungry, so I have to think about eating and it’s a chore just to get tasteless fuel into me.

I’ve been reading trying to figure out when my taste will come back and I could have another week left, but it could also be months until my taste returns to normal.
Also, there’s a link to anosmia (loss of smell) with depression because it cuts the flow of serotonin to your brain. I think I’m there. Ugh.

I’ve also lost 8 pounds in the 5 days since symptoms started. I don’t mind losing weight, but I am missing the pleasure of food profoundly. (I also know that the weight will likely return once I’m back to normal. I’ll just have to work to keep it off.)

  • Starting this DB with a ragin' case of 'rona. The positive is that my sense of smell and taste are completely gone! No desire to eat tasty treats when you can't taste. When this DB ends, it will be my 1 year anniversary of taking back my life. Can't wait to see where the scale stops in October!

Ugh, ortho appt. today has me benched for a couple of weeks. Retrocalcaneal bursitis beats a calcaneal stress fracture, though. Trying to find the positive tonight when I really just want to cry.

Oh goodness! Bursitis is know fun. Much better than a fracture. You can still do some upper body movements though!

  • Hello everyone! Happy Sunday!

Tomorrow is officially day one. For some of you this maybe be your 3rd, 4th or even 10th game but just know that everyone has a day one and for anyone who’s just starting tomorrow please know we’re all here to support you. We’re all here to support each other but I know how intimidating it can be to venture out on a weightloss journey. You may feel like you don’t know where to begin but the important thing is that you’re beginning.

These next four weeks should be a time of focus and dedication. This means cutting out the foods that may have gotten you to your heaviest or to your breaking point. For me that was fast food. In 2016 I finally said NO MORE. I stopped spending time in the drive thru and more time prepping my own meals in the kitchen. One thing I can promise you is no matter how lost you may feel nutritionally cooking your meals at home will always be the better option. You will save calories without even knowing it. Fast food was such a huge downfall for me. I was eating it before work, after work and between meals. It was literally controlling my life and got me to my heaviest. Through these next few weeks I will be cooking on my IG account and sharing meals that helped me lose the majority of my weight. I would appreciate you all to also share your meals and snack ideas here on our wall aswell. I think we can all learn a lot from one another and meal/snack options is always a huge request. I also recommend even one download myfitnesspal app to track your calories. This is a huge step in getting you to your goals. I am not a nutritionist but I have put in the work and lost my weight. I will do my best these next 4 weeks to make sure you meet your goal and learn something along the way.

What’s on everyone’s meal plan for next week? What’s something you think you can share with your fellow dietbetters that would help them nutritionally? Drop a comment below.

  • Doing a little happy dance as I hit my 100 pounds gone mark this morning! Started in October 2019 and I am amazed what I have accomplished in 9 1/2 months. DietBet has been instrumental in my success. If you are just getting started, have faith in the process! You CAN DO THIS!!!
