I can’t help you out -I don’t eat a lot of salads I do low-carb so I eat a lot of steak and meat - lol. I will eat spinach salad with avocado, shredded cheese, crumbled bacon, cucumber, with bacon grease dressing.

Has anyone ever done nutrisystem? I’m thinking of ordering the 3 weeks of meals but I’m nervous if they actually taste good. I love the idea you get to eat 6 times a day and it’s already all portioned out for you.

On the other side I’m thinking if I just meal prep I can maybe tackle portions and meals myself - anyone have any tips or tricks for that? Does anyone here do meal prepping??

I’ve tried other pre-packaged meal systems and it’s just not sustainable because you can’t eat that way the rest of your life (so it’s easy to regain weight once you stop). If you can find a fresh meal prep near you, the convenience is great and you might get inspired to start making up your own meals.

I have decided easily enough that I am going to attempt to try the meal prepping on my own. I like the idea of not having to think much about meals, but having to do all that work upfront seems overwhelming. I'm going to give it a go! :) THANK YOU!

What are your favorite vegan high protein options? I am not vegan, but I’m trying to cut out cheese and dairy entirely, and feel like some of my favorite protein snacks are hard to replace (yogurt, cottage cheese)

Thanks everyone! I have tried a lot of vegan cheeses and yogurts, but they’re pretty low in protein I’m finding. Protein powder is a great suggestion though and also edamame in all its forms! :yum:


Yoghurt is quite easy to replace, there are several options. I prefer almond yoghurt over soy, but like both (even though I don't cut out dairy, I just like the dairy free options better).

  • I’m super excited to share that I finally broke through a weight loss plateau! I hit 30 lbs down at 147 (5’9) in March 2020 after starting to lose in July 2018. Since then I’ve bounced around from the high 140s to the mid 150s. I broke the plateau by going veg Jan 1 (goal is to be mostly vegan but cheese is hard to cut) and recommitting to running (almost 20 miles this week!) Diet Bet has been hugely motivational for me, thank you all! Even though I lost the last round I was in, it’s helped me stay the course. It’s a marathon, not a sprint folks!

Vegan since Jan 1 here. My blood pressure went from 150s over 90s to 111/78 and down 8 pounds. Very excited to continue on the vegan path, even though I have to give up cheese.

The photo I shared was a vegan ramen.

My fave dishes these days are lentil curry, a Vietnamese “salad roll” bowl.

I have found many good recipes on minimalist baker and budget bytes but will definitely be trying the new ones you all have shared!

I am only changing eating habits. I never stick with working out and feel like the only way I am ever going to lose weight and keep it off is through food.

I have a 2.5 month old that doesn’t sleep, so I have ZERO energy or time for working out. I’m focusing solely on food intake. And I imagine it won’t be just for the first month of this challenge. It’s definitely teaching me to stay disciplined and focused.
