Getting nervous folks. The "busy season" at work officially starts Saturday and will be my first one with this company. 10 hour days and alternating Saturdays for 11 weeks. They will be plying us with ordered-in food 2x a day, gift baskets, and coffee.

Now that the weather is cooling down, I plan to up the walks with the dog. I've progressed with intermittent fasting, set myself up with meal prep; but I'm worried that all of it will crumble in 2 weeks. 😬

Think of it like you are trying to be as happy as possible. You should find a health solution that balances your day to day simple pleasures with making progress toward longer term health goals. You will not be happy if you take either too extreme, also if you do you will burnout. Find that optimal balance for you.

Thinking a little more about it, I think part of the temptation is the social aspect of it. The talking, the offering, the comradarity, the mental break, and the gathering surrounding the food vs the actual food in general. But little choices every day, right? I think your guys' suggestions and tuning in more here will help. folks.

  • Welcome to a new week!

    My son starts middle school today. I can't believe it! My daughter doesn't start school until next week, after the Labor Day weekend.

    This is a crazy time of year, but I do love settling back into a routine after the busy summer. Equally not ready for it to end, and excited about the change.

    Do you make "school year resolutions" or at least feel a fresh start this time of year and set some goals?

    Share if this time of year feels different for you. Do you have kids in school or are you back to school yourself? Also, let us know if you have any new goals.

I have never heard of school year resolutions but that sounds great! My kids are in 3rd, 5th and 7th grade this year! My girls are playing volleyball and boy is playing baseball. I think my goal is to be present and enjoy the moment and not think about everything that I need/want to do. It is busy but we will get into a rhythm.

My son is starting 1st grade in a week and it will really open-up my days. I used to go for a brisk walk straight after walking him to school each morning and I plan to start doing that again.

I am also thinking about trying to get a seasonal job while my son is in school, after decades of not having a paying job.:moneybag: Both exciting and terrifying! :grimacing:

I love, love, love Fall and welcome the shorter days and cooler weather. The heat drains me, but cool, fresh air invigorates me and I feel like cleaning and getting stuff done.

I have already started pretending it's Fall, just because it's a mental/emotional boost. I am ignoring the 90+ degree weather (So Cal) and making pumpkin soup and packing away summer things.

I also try to get back to Low Carb eating, if I took the summer off to enjoy summer fruits and travel treats. I can't have any excuse to be tempted by all the Halloween candy being advertised this time of year.

I used to run 2 miles every day, plus gym. I want to get back there!! Got to buckle down and do it with seated workouts. Hate that I bust my feet all the time!!

25 years ago before I got married I used to ride my bike everywhere. I am riding again, but only a mile at a time before I can barely walk. I would love to get back to that!

  • First half marathon of the year. Post partum has never felt so good!!! Thankful for my body, it’s STRONG!!! Baby weight is gone and I can fit into my old clothes (my biggest motivator!!) now to keep it off 👍????

  • I didn't lose a thing this round. But I didn't gain either, so that's good. I have been traveling/visiting family for the last 3 weeks, so it could have been far more disasterous.

    10 more days of family/travel and then it's just me and my health goals, once again. My current goal is to close the gap by the end of Round 4 (currently 15.5 lbs behind).

Urgh, I tested positive for Covid this morning. So far symptoms are manageable but excercise will be on hold for a while. Anyone else dealing with Covid right now? How will you adjust nutrition during this time?

Keep walking during Covid! It was the only way to help cough up and keep that fluid out of my lungs. I paced my bedroom cause I didn’t want to infect anyone else and I was close to the toilet so I could cough and not worry about throwing up (I learned you can throw up from coughing so hard this year)
