  • This is literally me, trying to change a late night eating habit. I go to bed early.

Lol!! I've been taking baths to also stop from eating in the evening. My four year old said, "You're taking a bath AGAIN!"

Hey everyone! I have done many diet bets to varying degrees of success. The last few I have barely scratched by in round one and then not been consistent enough in round two to keep going. I was really worried for this round because a week ago I wasn’t close to my goal weight despite having really good eating and exercise habits. I stuck with it though without giving up and the weight came off in this last week. It didn’t just fall off, it came off because I didn’t give up. I continued my good eating habits and resisted the urge for treating myself. I made my goal and need to remember to stay true to my eating habits going forward to this next round.. I think the second round is the hardest. Where I have gone wrong in the past is I have rewarded myself with a week or more of taking it easy and not watching what I eat as closely. Let’s all remember to still pay attention even though we are at the beginning of this round. Good luck everyone! We proud of all the little daily choices you’re making! Doing this for six months and being consistent will develop good habits. Once we get in the habit of not treating our selves it won’t be a hard “choice” each time we choose to skip the dessert. It will just be our habit and we won’t feel like we are on a diet. When I really pay attention, I notice that the people I think don’t need to worry about their weight, food choices, or exercise are actually the people who have good lifelong habits of eating healthy and exercising. It’s not that they don’t need to worry about it, it is that they have developed habits that prevent them from having that third cookie.. Sorry this got long. Trying to remind myself as much as all of you!

Way to go! That is one of the hardest things for me....resisting when others are eating tempting things.

The Possible Benefits of Intrinsic Motivation

Teachers may be very interested in fostering intrinsic movitation. If students are only interested in receiving grades or praise, and do not enjoy learning, then teaching may be very difficult. Students may not wish to think or apply their knowledge. They may only be concerned with what will be on the tests. In contrast, students who are intrinsically motivated may enjoy challenging work, and may think in greater depth about ideas. Teachers may be able to foster intrinsic motivation by having students work on projects that allow them to see how the information is relevant to their lives.
Supervisors may also be interested in ways to increase intrinsic motivation. The ideal employee may be one who is self-motivated and does not require constant supervision. Intrinsically motivated employees may be less likely to be late. They also may be more likely to excel at their jobs. It is possible that supervisors may increase intrinsic motivation by allowing employees to have greater autonomy, making the workplace fun, or encouraging creativity.

People who tend to be more intrinsic about their overall health, tend to do much better keeping weight down keeping dieting to a minimum.

Really cool food for thought. Thanks for posting!

Kelli H.

Yes! I am a teacher and intrinsically motivated students make my job a breeze.....but you feel like you're working on motivating over half your class most of the time. Exactly what you said...greater autonomy, adding fun, encouragemnt and creativity. Some days are better than other in those areas!

  • So guys I finally decided to do some spring cleaning of my closet as it’s long overdue 1. Because spring is almost over and 2. The majority of the clothes in my closet don’t fit me anymore (too big yay!)...any way I found a random size 8 pair of pants that I was sure would not fit since I haven’t worn a size 8 since I had my daughter over 4 years ago and I’m still 20 pounds away from that weight but I decided to try them on any way...welp by some miracle they fit super tight fit (don’t mind my morning hair lol) and of course I still need to lose some pounds to wear them comfortably but I’m just so excited they even close up and everything and that I’m really soooo close to my old body again went from a size 18 to a almost size 8! Lol I swear it’s the little things! ...now just need to go pant shopping lol

My plan... water first, veggies most, lost 25lbs, so far, in a little over 2 months, just want to keep the scale moving down. I workout routinely 5/6 days a week a blend of cardio/hiit and strength.

Am I reading the rules correct. If you lose over 12% you're disqualified?

I was just looking at this also and it is 12% for a kickstarter! I just started a nutritarian diet and lost a lot in two weeks, but I’m guessing that will slow down.

Thank you everyone for the clarification. I thought that was gonna be really hard lol
