Hello my DietBet friends, I need some help/advice. I am gaining weight every week instead of losing. I am running 3 miles every morning, and working out in the evening. My eating has been on point, usually 1300-1400 calories a day. My first week I lost 4 pounds and now I am gaining .5 pound to 1 pound a week. Any suggestions? I used to be a huge Diet Pepsi fan- I have now switched to seltzer water- not sure if that means anything.

Sometimes when I’m doing a little bit too much activity my body has exercise related water retention from the micro tears of lifting or general inflammation from the stress to the body. Take a rest day or two while keeping your diet on point, water intake up, sleeping well and stress levels low. See how the scale responds. Maybe two a days everyday may be reflecting on the scale not as real weight gain but activity stress response. Just a thought from my own experience.

I get frustrated with weight fluctuation. I need to not look at the scale so much, and that's hard in this 4 week game. I'm making progress, but it's mostly a change in mindset. Fighting negative thoughts today!

The scale is a double edge sword - hate the fluctuations but using it educates a lot about what things and foods drive it up and down. Times I gain is when I look back and realize I’ve been avoiding the scale.

Two weeks without losing anything. Two weeks of working out and eating 80% healthy. Two weeks of logging water intake. Two weeks. I wanted to give up. I told myself to just keep going, it's got to move the scale. I feel more energy, I'm sleeping better, I'm excited to run again... but that dang scale! Just keep going. Today... 2 lbs down finally!. Only 2.8 lbs to go. Just need to keep going, day by day, and that scale will respond eventually! We got this!

These workouts seem very lower body focused. Are we supposed to be doing our own upper body workouts or will we add in upper body eventually? Thanks. 😊

I had a trainer once tell me to do more with legs because they are bigger muscles, therefore burning more calories. I’m not an expert, but it makes sense to me! (I still like to do arms and shoulders :grinning:)

Weights coming in week 3 maybe will be more upper or combo moves
Lower are larger muscles burn more but agreed need to be balanced - I think it’s coming.
