These past two weeks have been very, very hard on me. I lost my mother on 4/29 and can't seem to find the motivation to get back on track. I've been doing so well up until now, she was one of my biggest cheerleaders and pushed me everyday. I'm not sure what is going to happen but I know I need strength to keep going.....

Oh boy, I have backslid hard. My brother and his girlfriend are visiting and they do not value clean eating. I stepped on the scale and am battling some shame today.

What are some of your favourite low cal meals? And how does everyone on here like to reset after a few bad days?

I look up meals that are comfort food and then make them low calorie myself. Where something may ask for whole milk, I use skim and reduced fat cheeses, lean meats, etc. and then am able to have the meal I was craving but make it a low calorie meal instead. For snacks, I get reduced fat cheese sticks, fiber one bars, skinny popcorn. I also found that pepperidge farm makes their oatmeal bread in a low calorie option now and I love that bread a lot, so it has helped with when I am wanting something that needs bread with it (like a sandwich).

5.5 pounds to lose in 2 weeks. I don't know why I can't seem to stay on track. Most days I drink a ton of water, and I start out eating healthy, but by late afternoon early evening I start to slip up. For example, I did so good yesterday with drinking water and eating healthy all day and then I gave in and had Cold Stone ice cream with my family last night instead of having a healthier dessert option. And I know one night of ice cream isn't going to completely sabotage everything, but I keep grabbing little pieces of my kids Easter candy here and there, or I'll do bad one day and say I'm going to start better the next day but then three or four days later I'm still doing bad. I just need to get my mind right and just really focus on these last few rounds so that I can finally win something. I lost round two and round three, I really don't want to lose anymore. Of course other than losing weight, lol.

Suggestions: Hide the candy (or other things that tempt you) out of sight. Make a plan for when you want to indulge (e.g. drink sparkling water, take your kids out for a walk or to the park, fit in a quick 15 min workout, brush your teeth). Figure out why you lose control late aft/early eve. Are you restricting too much earlier in the day? Are you having to make too many decisions earlier in the day and your "decision muscle" is exhausted and looking for the easy option? Set up systems to rely on, not willpower. Willpower can only take you so far and it wanes. If you set up systems, the healthy choice is the best (sometimes only) choice. Consider what changes could be done as a family and not just you alone. Let us know what tricks you find work best for you!

Being mindful of what you are doing to yourself is a key in stopping it, and you've got that part figured out. I do remember the days of trying to lose weight while raising a family and I know it's not easy. But I know you can rise up to meet the challenge. When you are tired of the ups and downs and become ready to make a full time commitment, it will happen for you!

There are a lot of birthdays this week! 🍰 Mine is today. I have been absolutely spoiled by my family and coworkers. I ate cake and ice cream...then got extremely tired. It's not quite as attractive to eat it as it used to be. 😞 Off to the chiropractor and a therapeutic massage in a bit. I'm having a great day!

I was taking a picture with my phone this evening and accidentally flipped the camera on myself. I did not like what I saw. I knew I was gaining weight back these last few weeks, but I was surprised to find that I have now jumped up to over my starting weight. 😳

So, I just joined my first "kickstarter" to do something extra challenging to push myself back in the right direction. I have never in my life been able to lose weight that fast, and I'm not sure what my plan is just yet... but I do know that I will be drinking *a lot* of kale smoothies this month. 😜

  • I don't normally post these kinds of pictures but I am beyond proud of myself. 107 pounds down since August. I am feeling great, have more confidence and believe in myself more than I ever have. I have a long way to go but I'm sure not going to give up on myself now.
