  • Some of you may have seen my wife Cassaundra’s post yesterday in the crush of others. I’ve loved reading everyone else’s so I had to add mine too (If I don’t share it with my DB community, who else will understand?)

    When I turned 31 I made a commitment to myself to finally get my weight in order. I would always work hard for a few months, drop 5-10 pounds, then gain it back a few months later. So as my birthday neared I googled “Gamify weight loss” and found Dietbet. I’m motivated by sticks, not carrots, so it was exactly what I needed. 9 months ago when I started, I weighed 215 pounds. I did 2 kickstarters then joined this transformer and dragged my wife along with me. Having a partner helped so much to drop weight together and hold each other accountable. When I got married 9 years ago I weighed 192.5, then rebounded. When I ran a marathon 6 years ago I weighed 190, then rebounded. Yesterday after my workout I weighed in at 186.4. It is the lowest I have ever been in my adult life. I finally learned what foods my body needs to function optimally so I’m not gonna rebound this time! I’d still like to lose a little more but for now I’m just going to enjoy the rest of my summer as a guy who went so far past onederland he got to the 80s! (Synth music plays in the background)

  • Has anyone tried the RP Diet App? I’d love to hear people’s reactions both good and bad. I’ve been trying it for the last few days and it is crazy intense! (But those results I’ve see on IG are stellar!) My macros seem high but I’ve heard it starts you out at maintenance for two weeks (is that true?) But it’s forcing me to eat more protein which is definitely for the best. Anyway I’d just love to read people’s experiences with it!

I’ve done it and had success, but it will really test your willpower. It takes your carbs down to nothing (and I mean just about zero) pretty quickly, and fats fall quite a bit as well. You’re left with a lot of chicken breast and whey shakes (I couldn’t eat enough protein in a day to hit my numbers).

I believe it was designed for bodybuilders and their mass/cut cycles. In that capacity I think it works incredibly well. If you’re not into sculpting your body, I’m not sure it’s the healthiest or most sustainable approach

Ok guys I'm heading off the rails and need some help, I met my goal last month and decided to treat myself to pizza for dinner that night, well 4 slices of pizza later and feeling terrible I was ready to get back on track, then the next night the kids wanted spaghetti for dinner so I had a small portion for dinner then later that night went back to the fridge heated up a huge bowl of spaghetti and ate it all. I've been back on track calorie wise for 3 days now and I'm still up 3lbs from last months goal weight, I'm super bloated and just feel crappy. Does anyone have any tips to help me get back on track and reset my stomach. I drink at least 100oz of water everyday so water isn't the issue.

I think we have all felt what you are feeling, for me, i cut out cheat days completely. It was really hard for about 6 weeks, Then the cravings were gone. They come back on a rare occasion, but so much more managable.

I had potato chips last night. But it was an active choice, knowing full well it will take 3 to 5 days of eating low carb to shed the water weight that comes with carbs. I thought I’d be beating myself up today, but it’s all good. We have 27 days to our next weigh in. I’m hoping to see the loss of the potato chip water weight by next Tuesday then I’ll be working to lose a pound a week before April 1. For me (and al our bodies are different) I cut out bread, potatoes, white rice and pasta and that helps lose the water weight and stops the blood sugar roller coaster ride. Good luck!!!

My grandma is in the hospital on a ventilator with the covid, she is all I really have since my mom passed away and my dad is a drug addict. It's really hard to even think about this bet and let alone weight loss, I know I am doing it to be healthy, but when I get depressive I just want to eat. Is there anything that helped people get through these times without eating their hearts out, or giving up??? I have hope, but with all the negativity surrounding this virus and her age group, it's just I'm scared for the worse. I have a therapy appointment but it's not until Feb 8th...........just looking for words of encouragement to keep going or advice, thank you in advance!

Working out helps my anxiety and depression. There’s true science behind it. Most important of all - what would grandma want you to do? Sit and worry or take care of you the best you can? I know it’s easier said than done but try to take care of you. Both my grandmas passed - both like moms to me taking turns raising me and my sisters. There was nothing harder than losing them - but I want them to be proud of me and know I’m living my best life I can. :heart: focus on the positive as much as you can

  • Lost my energy about half way on my walk this morning. Time to adjust something to add energy.

    Any suggestions to push through when you simply lose it during a run/walk/workout?

What other apps are people using to help with their weight loss? I am starting slow with just staying in a calorie deficit every day and taking my dog for a walk every day. I am using My Fitness Pal to track food and I got a Renpho scale with the app to track my weight and measurements, its kind of fun to use! I also need to find my FitBit and get back to tracking steps as this working from home business has certainly turned me sedentary!
