The good news: I started today, my 70th birthday, by walking 5 miles! The bad news: also part of the birthday celebration was eating out and enjoying some big cookies that came my way.

Happy birthday! I think big cookies are a great way to celebrate!

Heather U.

Sounds like a wonderful birthday! Life is all about balance.

  • 30 pounds down since March. It’s been a hard journey, with a lot of restarts and learning moments. Still have quite a ways to go, but almost at my first goal of no longer being considered morbidly obese!

Ugghhh… those classifications are so disheartening! Congrats on your progress! I’m sure you’ll be looking towards the no longer obese line soon!

I didn’t make it to my intended destination last night. The weather was so bad, I was only able to drive 30 mph most of the way on the interstate. I was still able to find a hotel with a decent workout room and woke up at 6 to get my workout in. Got half of my workout done and had to leave, due to a rude guy. He came in and started running while I was lifting. He stopped and told me he was only going to run but since I was lifting he’d put on a show (GROSS) he got offended when I didn’t pay him any attention while he was lifting. He asked what my problem was. I looked at my rings, looked at his and said we are both wearing rings but apparently only one of us honors those rings. I got up and left. What a creepy weirdo.

Gross, im so sorry this happened to you! IDK why gym bros have to be so weird, it happens like 80% of the time that some guy is staring, making comments, or *taking pictures* and that is why i stopped going to a gym

What a psycho. Like, most normal people know you don't just walk into a workout and hit on someone. Blegh. Glad you were overall safe.

Coffee by itself is fine! It's all the milk sugar and creamer we add haha <3 butter is one that is totally rough to leave out. I don't, but it must be hard for some people hehhe

  • On September 18th, 2020, I started using Noom at a weight of 392.2. It wasn't the heaviest I'd ever been, but this is the day when my life changed forever.

This morning, my scales said 292.2. 100 pounds are gone!

So I went to take a picture this afternoon. I can't imagine carrying this much weight around for so long, but it's what I did! I've taken this before, when I lost this much weight once in the past, only to put it all back on again and more. This time I think I've got this. I doubt there will ever be a time when I don't log food for every meal every day, because that's what it takes for me to be successful, and I'm fine with that.

Keep losing, my friends - WE CAN DO THIS!

The scales were wrong, and the meat was too good. I'm in grave danger of missing this round. Recovery efforts are well underway, starting with a 4.4 mile walk this morning and what may become a 20/4 fast today. I'm pretty disappointed in myself.

The deviations from what we know we should be eating or how we should be eating I think are good lessons for us WHEN we get back on the horse and continue with our plan. Learning to deviate, but immediately be back eating what we know is best for us is a good life skill that I know I'm learning as I go. In the past with a diet, if I chose to deviate (I'm refusing to call it cheating these days), I would then just eat anything and everything. With this diet and at this time in my life, so far -- I have deviated plenty of times, but then the rest of the day was back on track. It feels so liberating and empowering to do that -- sort of developing new 'better health' muscles. So hopefully you enjoyed the Meat Fest and just move forward.

I like KathyG's point. Although there is no one true way to diet, I think it is clear that if you want lifelong improvements, you need to make lifelong changes. Being able to deviate and then get back on track appears to be one of the most important skills to develop.
