  • Last week for one glorious morning I got to walk on the beach for my daily walk. It’s my most favorite thing in the world. This week I’m back to work after a short summer break. Oh how I’d love to walk on a beach everyday. Must figure out how to make this happen…maybe for retirement someday.

Anybody heard of this book "Fast Carbs, Slow Carbs"? More or less, fast carbs = processed food/bad, slow carbs = good. Haven't read it, just browsing.
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/51928073-fast-carbs-slow-carbs?ac=1&from_search=true&qid=MKlVxxyIFk&rank=1

Now I have that song stuck in my head ("He had some fast carbs, I had a job payin' all the bills...body's too old for workin', body's too young to look like his"):

Why, yes, it is a slow work day...

I haven’t read that one. I did read The Diet Fix recently and really enjoyed it.

  • Feeling great today. I started counting calories again, and recognized I was eating to maintain, cut out a few hundred calories daily and the weight is starting to fall off again. I didn't have any planned workouts this weekend, but I did put in some time dancing in the kitchen and walking the trails. Weighed-in this morning and I was shocked to see how close I was to Onderland! I did my work out and weighed-in again... not there yet. But feeling great

I would love to spend some quality time on that trail! I can hardly wait to celebrate with you when you hit Onderland!

This walk is just a 10 minute drive from my house, lol. We do this trail once a week. There are several other amazing trails at this park but The girls arn't old enough to handle the climbing.

  • Crazy weekend, traveled but stayed on track. Had a storm last week and had to clean up after it, my yard never stays clean! Made some delicious ribs today, and chops last night. Hope y’all had a good weekend!

Nice! My husband is having fun smoking ribs and such in his new smoker.

That yard work is great exercise, though! Love the kiddo shot in the pool!

  • Today is a significant day, for a couple of reasons. Exactly 10 months ago, I started on Noom, weighing in at 392.2 pounds. This morning's progress weigh-in was 276.4 pounds. In 10 months, I've lost 115.8 pounds! What makes me the happiest is that three months ago, I stopped getting Noom lessons daily on my phone, but I've been able to take the knowledge I've acquired to keep my weight loss going. This gives me hope that I can sustain this for the rest of my life!

Perhaps even more significant is something else I realized this morning. In 2007-2008, I was on the Nutrisystem plan, and while I was using their food, I was successful. On Nutrisystem, I lost 130 pounds, but when I stopped their food, I didn't have the skills to keep the weight off, and it all came back again and more.

Today - from my all-time highest weight of 408 on December 26, 2019 (knee replacement day), I have lost 131.6 pounds. This is now the most successful I've ever been on a weight loss plan. Again - I believe I have the skills to sustain this, since it's a new lifestyle, and not somebody else's plan.

I can hardly wait to see what the future has for me, but I know I will attack it as a much healthier person! It's a great day, my friends!!!

Not sure why, but am up a lb the last couple of days. I've literally done nothing different. I eat the same and have done the same type of exercise walking on the treadmill.

Definitely frustrating!

I'm there too. Unfortunately water weight fluctuates very easily. But then again, fortunately water weight fluctuates very easily. As long as you keep going steady and stay hydrated it'll be back off quickly.

Had a horrible night with constant waking and jumpiness. It's almost 5am and I can't decide if I should have coffee and start my day or try to get some more bits of sleep until my 8am alarm goes off. 😟

My doctor let my wife know the importance of establishing some type of regular bedtime schedule, so we are going to make an effort, but I dread nights like you had last night, because it can throw a lot of things off. I hope your day goes well!

Mollie D.

Thanks for the suggestion, Syl. :)

I've had issues with insomnia ever since Jr High. I know all the sleep hygiene tricks, but some nights are terrible anyway. My schedule has definitely been irregular lately and that doesn't help.
