  • Happy Thursday! As we head into these last few days, be kind to yourself and be proud of your decision to make your health a priority.

A few tips for these final days:
    -No drastic changes
    -Keep moving
    -Drink your water
    -Get enough sleep
    -Limit salt
    -Find your joy

Whether you're crushing your goal or struggling a bit, please keep in mind that PROGRESS is the real win. Any changes you can say you've noticed since the game started - that's what you should focus on. What have you learned about yourself? What little victories have you accomplished? It's not all about the scale (yes, the game is determined by the little numbers by your feet, but they don't determine your worth, your happiness, or what you're capable of).

This quote was from Bernice, a player in one of my games. I just love it and she gave me permission to share it! :)

    You've got this!

2 lbs away from the goal. Everybody let's keep pushing. Past up the goal like you pass up a running on the track

  • Phew!! I surpassed the weight loss goal for this game. It’s the closest call I’ve had since I began my weight loss journey. The weight loss has slowed down, and I have felt a little discouraged, but I stuck to it and believed in myself and followed my plan. Onto my next game!! Keep going everyone! You can do it. Don’t stop!

Woohoo, congrats! Hard work pays off, and it's the daily decisions we make that brings results. Great job!

  • I am having such a hard time eating chocolate at the end of the day. I won't be hungry, just craving chocolate. Surely, it's a comfort thing due to my horrible chronic pain being the worst at night, but it's overpowering me. If I toss it, then I obsess over it and eat stuff to replace that food. Ugh To recap, I have lost then gained then lost the same ten pounds since October. I have 2 pounds left to win this bet by the 28th, and I am so afraid of self-sabotage. I can't disappoint myself one more time!

Hi Callie! I know this feeling well. My 'trick' is to make sweet potato chocolate pudding. It doesn't have the texture of regular chocolate, but the taste is there and it satisfies my sweet tooth. I don't measure anymore, but it's essentially:
3 cups baked sweet potato
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1 tsp vanilla
1-2 tsp maple syrup (as desired)
Splash plant milk (2-3 Tbsp)
Blend in a blender until smooth (a good few to several minutes). Refrigerate (you can eat it any time, but I like the texture best when it's cold). I often add fresh fruit when I serve it.

That may not be your thing, but I do recommend finding a healthy alternative that will satisfy you. Each time you choose the alternative, I know you'll feel so proud of yourself the next day. Use that feeling to motivate you to keep it up. Eventually you will break this habit! I know it can feel impossible but I know you can do it!

Thanks!

Trying to hold myself more accountable…I haven’t had any sweets since Tuesday. I know this isn’t long, but I have a huge sweet truth. Plus I’m a mental health therapist so keep bite sized chocolates in my office and my husband brought home a cookie for me on Tuesday, that I have yet to have. I have two young ones so we of course have lots of snacks, including sweets. I’m proud of my small non scale victory! The cookie is calling my name after a long week, but I’m trying to stay strong!! Keep going ya’ll!

You’re doing great! Keep focused.

That’s impressive, way to go! It’s so hard to resist. I think of it like a muscle, the more you resist the stronger you get - over time it’s easier and becomes a new habit.

  • We all start these games highly motivated, and hopefully, you're still in that mindset. Motivation is likely to wane eventually, so don't be surprised if this happens to you. This is where good habits are key! When we develop good habits, then healthy choices become our default!

It's also encouraging to have little victories that spark your motivation from time to time. Weight loss is definitely one of those, but the scale doesn't always cooperate, so keep an eye out for those NSV's (non-scale victories). For example, walking away from temptation, fitting into smaller clothes, working out when you really didn't want to, accomplishing your water goal for x many days, etc. Celebrate those successes along the way and be proud of yourself!

What healthy habits are you working on developing? Do you have any NSV's to share?

I’m working out each day, might be a walk, might be a 15 min workout. Drinking more water. I’m doing something.

Referee Nancy

Kelli - I live that! Measurable success like that is so inspiring!

You’ve got this Ellen! One day at a time!

That’s the way to do it Christine!

  • Happy Friday! As we head into the weekend take a moment to think about how you're going to stay on track. Weekends can be tough but planning ahead will make all the difference. Think about how good you'll feel on Monday by making smart choices!

How are you feeling about going into this weekend? Do you have any strategies to share or need some encouragement? Let us know!

  • Happy Wednesday! I hope you're all off to a strong start. If not, that's okay, just start NOW...not tomorrow! :)

It's easy to let one meal or snack throw us into "I'll start tomorrow" mentality. An important lesson is to get back on track with the next thing you put in your mouth. Don't let little slip ups throw off an entire day. We will not be perfect and that's okay, we live real lives - but in order to crush our goals, we do need to be mindful and always strive to get back on track.

I also recommend including some special treats in your plan, so you never feel deprived.

How are you all doing so far?

I’m doing the best I’ve ever done in my life. Just hit my 40 lb milestone and I also got out of the obese category. Though I still have not test hit my official 1/2 way mark in my weight loss journey, I am just a couple of lbs away from that and 5 lbs away from Onederland!! I’m am on cloud 9.

Yay Kelli! Congrats on the amazing accomplishment! You're on a roll and nothing will stop you! You've got this!

Easter weekend and a work engagement going to dinner every night last week set me back for the start of this week but it’s a new week so I’m resetting and getting back on track!
