I’ve exercised 13 days in a row now, all with at least 1 buddy, and I planned out the rest of this week with the same. Going on family walks, playing with my tennis group, hiking with friends. I’m having a “duh” lightbulb moment, but I’m finally seeing how complementary a social and active lifestyle can be. Feeling super grateful and fortunate to have that this year.

Very cool. Keep up the good work.

Samantha

Yes! I love going for a walk or doing something active with a friend. So much better than sitting around and eating/drinking :)

Do I have anybody in this group who would like an accountability partner(s)? I am working my way through a book called Lose It For Life. They suggest having some friends you can share with as a support system. All my friends are skinny and don’t really understand how hard this is for me. It’s authored by two Christian writers and I have really enjoyed it this far. Let me know if you are interested😀.

I have a trusted friend as an accountability partner. This has been very helpful, especially since our eating troubles are similar. I am happy to get and give more support.

TCDragon

I’d be interested. Maybe a FB support group?

I did a little too much social eating this weekend. It was delicious but back to better decisions now. How was your weekend?

Me too... Scared to weigh myself. Although I didn't binge or over eat, I still know that I went over my daily calories.

Anne K.

Lol I actually thought I did well at a Friendsgiving. Stuck to sparkling water, salad, pasta, fruit, and split a cookie. It helped to hang out and play with the kids outside so I wasn’t side-eyeing the food table the whole time

Looks like I’ll make goal if I don’t eat all the things next week! I will try to eat the yummy foods I really want and try to ignore anything that’s just ok. What’s your plan for the Holidays?

Eating a little bit of everything, but in moderation. Enjoy, don’t go crazy.

Anne K.

Trying for moderation. Loading up on healthier veggie options with a bit of the more indulgent dishes, but saving room to savor dessert.

I’ve noticed that I make healthier decisions in the morning, but all resolve is lost by about 2pm. Rather than really try to work on self-discipline, my planning is starting to sound like, “if I eat all my fruits and veggies for breakfast and lunch, then it’s not such a baaaaaad thing to only eat junk food at dinner because…balance?” 😅

Sounds like a plan! I do know for myself that I crash around 2-3 pm if my lunch has too many simple carbs. Just something to consider.

Mary K.

Have you tried decreasing sugar and simple carbs? I found when I did that I no longer have a slump in motivation or energy during the day. I used to religiously eat Chobani fruit yogurt every morning until I saw how much sugar it contained. When I switched to a hard-boiled egg I discovered I wasn’t hungry until 5 hours later and then it wasn’t the manic “FEED ME” scream, just dull hunger pangs that we’re satisfied with a large salad with olive oil and apple cider vinegar for dressing. Yum!

Hey guys, I've been diagnosed with PCOS today, which explains my struggles in losing weight!
Has anyone got any advice about trying to lose weight with this condition? Any information gratefully received, I'm currently on a journey to educate myself!

Thoroughly endorse Jason Fung, intermittent fasting, low carb and low sugar. You can check out YouTube lectures by Jason Fung and Eric Westerman. While these are mainly focused on reversing diabetes, the same strategies seem to work for PCOS. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback guys! Off to do some research!

  • It has been an insane two weeks with a new baby. My parents got Covid while we were in the hospital and my son stayed with them, he came home the day after Hudson came home. Pretty sure we all were lucky and got a severely mild case of covid. We all are better then Lincoln got an ear infection, man it has been crazy! I did get my workouts in everyday, a little sleep deprived but feeling pretty good! We also decorated for Christmas, might as well be festive if we are stuck at home!

Glad everyone is doing better. Inspiring that in spite of everything you're still locked in on your goal. Totally amazing!

Found the *perfect* workout shirt for me - moisture wicking, great sleeve length, long enough so my stomach isn’t showing when I raise my arms, slim-fit but not clingy, and, best of all, the color totally brings out my eyes so I feel extra cute wearing it. Lol do any of y’all have a special workout item that gives you an extra boost of confidence?
