Congrats to all successful weigh ins! I’m really struggling... at 54 I’m hormonal a hot mess lol and body is just not shaking anything last two weeks! I didn’t make weight... not even close so now I have a bigger challenge for the next weigh in. I do not want to go extreme dieting because I feel that it just bites you in the butt at the end. Just don’t know what to do.. eating cleaner.. exercising 3-4x week.. just not a clue :/

This is right up my alley since I train a lot of females 50 and over. What seems to work with most that run into this problem is the LACK of intensity in their exercising. You can work out 3-4 times a week, but if the intensity isn't high enough, it won't keep your metabolic rate up. When we reduce calories, our body automatically responds by lowering metabolic rate. To keep it up, you need to exercise it just enough to at least keep it from lowering too much. Cardio is great for calorie burning, but adding a strength program keeps muscle from atrophying and lowering metabolic rate too much. I suggest a program like "Starting Strength", however just about any basic strength program will do. I actually like this females' workout and it doesn't require a lot of equipment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3hiOm4WwXp4

Yes, yes to all of this. Looks like this is my group. :) I have not found a successful way to lose weight since maybe 52. Past 2 years the scale has only really consistently gone up. Slow and steady in the wrong direction. My energy has plummeted. I'll take a look at those programs.

Congrats to everyone who achieved their goals! I was so close (1lb with 1 week to go), but then after a week (and my weekends) of working nonstop (and not getting paid for it because everyone on our job has paycuts they put in place due to Covid), I turned to a lot of emotional eating. Plus being in NYC where you can’t do anything is really taking a toll. I’ve mostly gotten back on track this week but now I am hungry all the time. And it seems like in the last week I gained almost 2 pounds (thought some of it may be water weight from my high calorie days but its been a few days and still there 😞 I’m feeling sad because I wonder if I didn’t make this weigh in and with my weight going up again can I make enough progress in time for the following month’s weigh in? Would love any support / advice you guys can share!

I'm in another transformer that is ending this month and had the same thoughts and self sabotage. But I made a decision that I needed to lose the weight, my health required it. It took me 3 rounds to win but I did it and am below for the final round. Yes, the winning my money back is great but I would gladly pay it for what I have lost! In transformers, if I don't make a round or 2 I don't worry about the money... it's a marathon. The end result is what matters. We stumble as we go but getting up and pushing through is key. You can do this! We all can!

I’m going to once again step on the scale tomorrow and see what it says. The number as of yet still hasn’t changed. However, I’m not upset if I don’t make round 1. I’ve been eating good and the gym finally opened up, I haven’t missed a day yet. I’m not sure if my aggressive zeal to hit the weights again is playing a factor in my weight, but I’m confident by the next weigh in anything otherwise will work itself out. How can I possibly be upset with myself for not making a round when I feel so dang good right now? Round 2, you will not allude me however!

Could be from the zeal. Aggressively training after a short layoff can cause water retention due to recovery.

Love your positive attitude! You've got this! Weight training is the best for actually changing body shape and not just weight. Congrats on your gym opening. I live in a townhome with a clubhouse gym and we still can't go. :worried:
