I have been so busy lately. End of the quarter coming, essay grading, running kids to activities, spending time with family…I’ve been doing well on food but I haven’t had time to work out. I will finally get some time tomorrow. It’s very hard to balance because something has always gotta give. But I’m excited to get back at it!

I’m thankful that my cold has finally gone away. I don’t know why but this season has been the worst with colds. I never get a fever or body aches but twice I’ve had long cold symptoms that seem to never go away. It’s difficult to work out when I have them. I’m eating healthy and taking vitamins, I don’t understand why I keep getting them (I am a teacher so I’m exposed to a lot though). Here’s hoping it’s done

rest up. it's a long transfomer. your sleep is more important than working out

My family has had brutal colds for over a month. It’s exhausting! Glad you are feeling better

  • How about a little inspiration for this new round...

Weight loss doesn't begin in the gym with a dumb bell; it starts in your head with a decision.

Give this a like if you agree!

Rate your current mindset. Start with a 1 (it's really a struggle) to 10 (you have never felt more strong about making it happen!)

Honestly - currently a 2-3. I have been yo-yoing so long and then when I really get it together and make a strict effort, it doesn’t seem to show up on the scale (perimenopause/ Hashimotos/ desk job) but I refuse to stop trying. Even if it happens slow and I don’t win the money I refuse to stay at a standstill any longer

5 somewhere along the journey to its easy to make it happen.

I’m feeling frustrated. It’s been 12 days since I lost any weight. I could not be eating any less than I am. I try to eat low carb and low calorie as that usually works for me. I have at least a 500 calorie deficit from my diet alone each day. Yet nothing is happening. I’m not exercising much, maybe twice a week, so I know I could be doing that more. But I’m on my feet all day every day and feel like my diet should be enough to see semi-consistent change. What am I doing wrong???

I know the common belief is in = out, but less calories and more exercise isn't always the answer because with hormones and stress our bodies freak out and then hold onto the weight. Totally agree with folks on changing things up maybe spend a few days consciously eating well but instead focus on & counting grams of protein (>100g) or fiber (>25g).

Madeline L.

  • Sorry you are going through that. That sounds so frustrating! I’ve seen things online from fitness experts who talk about how to get through a weight plateau. You should look into something called metabolic confusion where you use a zigzag calorie plan to get your body out of starvation mode. I’ll attach screenshots with the general plan if you are interested. ❤

Has anyone experienced a major change in trips to the bathroom while dieting? Not going is definitely impacting my weight on the scale and is also making me not feel great. Any advice on how to overcome this?

Also make sure you are getting healthy fats as well as the fiber and water.

Amanda E.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I'm currently drinking 3L of water a day for a water challenge, so I'll try adding more fruits and veggies to see if more fiber helps.

I’m struggling this week. I’ve stayed on diet and worked out a little but weight won’t budge. I feel like I may be at a plateau. But I don’t want to eat less calories than I am because I like food lol
I know everyone is different…but I’m just trying to get an idea or ballpark figures. How many calories do you allow yourself a day?

1200-1300 calories per day for me. At my age, this is the only thing that works. I also exercise daily.

I'm not calorie counting right now but I am trying to eat smaller portions then I normally do and eating foods higher in protein. I find when I eat too low of calories I tend to binge later on or I am just constantly thinking about calories lol. if I get hungry at night I usually eat a high protein snack, usually it's a small bowl of cottage cheese haha

  • Alright!! Let's get this weekend started with a little fun!

You're all doing so great! Keep up the great work and stay positive.

Here's the fun! Share with us what you would chose - if you could only pick one: personal trainer, unlimited athletic wardrobe, personal chef, home gym, or endless vegetable garden.

    I know, it's tough!

Can't wait to see what you would choose! (Don't forget to give others a like if they share your choice!)

I tried 24hr fast yesterday (first time) as an option experiment. Here is what I learned:

1) I eat bored a lot. I kept wanting to niggle on some food but I really wasn’t that hungry.

2) I did feel a little light headed, but I have felt worse after a hard workout.

3) I did my normal workout with after 20hrs with no food. It didn’t feel any different. I went 90 minutes on the elliptical.

4) When I finally did eat, I ate a normal sized meal for me. I wasn’t starving.

5) I found that I got more done on Saturday because I wasn’t making my day revolve around eating.

6) I met my goal one weight on the scale today 😀

All and all it was a good experience. It changed they way I think about planning my weekends and I probably will do it on another Saturday soon. I highly recommend you try it because you will likely learn something about yourself too!

Thanks Tracy. It is just my wife and I. It would be easier on my diet to be alone but I wouldn’t trade what I have now for more diet success

Tom

Jules: I’ve never done it before so I don’t know. I’d imagine the scale would go up but that would be water so I’m not concerned

Having a really hard day. Having my parents live with me has its ups and downs. Today watching how much my dad declines on a daily basis and on top of it my husband has left me. 2024 has started off so hard and having this group is going to help me stay true to who I want to be and a better version of myself. I would love to crawl in bed and cry all day.

I'm sorry to hear about your personal struggles with your parents, but you're doing the right thing helping them because you're a kind, generous person.

As far as your husband leaving - we all have a right to be happy with our own lives, so obviously he felt he'd be happier going a different path. This is now a great opportunity for you to do what makes YOU happy. I'd also like to point out that sometimes - the trash takes itself out! :)

Keep your head up!

jules43

I’m so very sorry!!! Sounds like a lot!!! Cry when you need to. It’s good for you but then force yourself to take a couple small steps each day. Also recognize that if you find you can’t maybe see a counselor to help you sort out everything. You’re going through a lot!!! (Hugs)

I've always been an emotional eater and that is something that has sabotaged me in the past. What is something you do when you need comfort, but don't want to turn to food?

Hot tea. Drinking something hot that takes time is a good distraction

manchestermate

A bath for me and a nice skincare regime maybe a face mask after etc
Partly because it’s nice to do something for yourself, secondly I can’t snack if I’m in the bath or have a face mask on haha
