Gotta triple down my will to cut down the pounds I think! Too many things I let slide this month. Did trim down physically tho, so I'm willing to bet (literally) the pounds will come off if I just keep to the plan instead of letting things like 🍷win me over. Little things add up!

:wine_glass: can be so seductive :grinning: i track calories in and out - I allow myself wine when I have calories left and can still hit my deficit. Had to do without most of the last two weeks so I'd make goal.

If every other meal is acheat meal it adds up, which is why I started diet bet lol. Keep it up, try adding a intermittent fast if you can, I find it can kick start my metabolism :)

I’m seeing a LOT of questions surrounding the payout. As Dietbet’s resident math nerd, here is how it works for transformers and the calculation for round 1’s Payout:

-Roughly 10% of the total pot goes to each of the first 5 rounds (50%)
-Roughly 50% of the total pot goes to the last round.
-Each round, dietbet will take at most 25% of the Round’s pot, leaving the remaining amount divvied up to the pot winners.

Here’s Round 1’s pot calculation:
Total Pot Round 1: $235,025
Dietbet’s 25% cut: $58,756.25
Remaining Pot: $176,268.75
Total # Pot 1 Winners: 9,565
Winnings per Winner: $176,268.75/9,565 = $18.43

To temper expectations, I’ve done 1 other transformer, and the total winnings (I made weight all 6 rounds) was roughly $350. If about the same % of people made weight each round, and you make all 6 rounds this game, you can probably expect somewhere between $350-400 (up to a 90% ROI ain’t bad!!!)

Cheers, and good luck fellow Dietbetters!!

Edit: This may be subjective, but I believe this game (and others) isn’t about making money, it’s about accountability (and not LOSING money haha). The assurance you have is that if you make your goal weight all 6 rounds, you will at LEAST get your money back, and if everyone were to make their goal weight, Dietbet would forego their cut of the pot.

For those complaining about the amount DB takes...were you also asking why it was taking so long to manually process over 13,000 weigh ins? Or the support and questions answered by staff and Kristin? Does everyone think these should all just be volunteers so we can all lose weight? There is transparent info available before you sign up...none of this should come as a shock. Bottom line is, you won't lose worst you break even and lose weight, at best you make a little extra scratch and lose weight. How is any of this a bad thing? My suggestion, when committing to spending any amount of money, read the details...that eliminates any surprises.

Wow I’m so disappointed by all the complaining. We get to play a game, get out money back plus more. I paid to go to Weight watchers for years and they never gave me my money back. Let’s all lose weight and gave fun.

Do any of you have a place that destroys your diet, and how do you deal with it? Mine is my Mom's house. Yesterday I was there, upon arrival I went straight to the fridge and found leftover pizza, later my Mom made a delicious carb heavy casserole. I couldn't help raiding the cookie jar, thankfully my little sister mostly burnt the cookies so it took 20 minutes of intense chewing to get through one, which slowed me down.

By the way Lyal D your mother seems very sweet to make sure you are taken care of. She must love you a lot. You can tell she puts love in her cooking

My place is called the kitchen :D so I do my best to shy away from it, the bloody fridge in particular.

Does anyone else struggle with people guilting them into eating? When I have the willpower to stick to my goals I use it because I know it won’t always be there. It’s my birthday today so I want to enjoy some of the things I wouldn’t normally have right now- a small bit of birthday cake and I’m having pizza for dinner. I feel zero guilt about this because I’ve planned for it but now my dad is making me “a special birthday brunch” and I can see bread, butter and cheese going in there. I gently told him I won’t have any and he hasn’t said anything but I can tell that it’s upset him. I know it’s silly and I should do what is right for me but my dad shows love through food and it upsets me to reject that. Yikes as I write this I’m starting to realise where some of my emotional attachment to food comes from!! Is this something that any of you are going through?

Thank you everyone, this was really good advice and made me feel better about it all!

I have issues with my sister wanting to go out to eat all the time. It’s too hard to do calorie control with restaurant food. I hate telling her no all the time so I told her we’d go out after my round 1 weigh in is accepted but will still do portion control and healthy choices.

  • I am doing a 10 day fast to kick things off for 2021. I'm leading a group of Christian Entrepreneurs (and those wanting to start a side biz) in this fast not for weight loss but that's a great side benefit, lol. This is why I'm glad this is a longer challenge. Motivates me to keep those post-fast pounds off and keep going!

That's awesome! I did a 10 day fast a couple of years ago and loved it. I'd love to do it again but it's hard sticking to it in the beginning.

Damn, I hate that alcohol is so detrimental to my weight loss journey. 6 days no alcohol, down 8 pounds. It’s the only way I’m going to succeed is not to drink.

The worst part of this is missing wine with a nice dinner. We are so conditioned to having a nice bottle of wine if I am cooking something nice I cook nice things so we can have wine. When I think about it there might be a problem there, not a big one, but still. After a debaucherous 3 weeks of "holiday" drinking and gaining like 10 lbs in those three weeks having lost almost 4 pounds in 3 days is motivating. Feeling thin will feel better than feeling tipsy. Remind me of that later will you? lol

Lisa R.

I’m doing 75 Hard, so no wine and alcohol for 3 months now. I’m not missing it as much anymore. I mindlessly eat if I get tipsy too. Good luck :four_leaf_clover:

I’m not home, I’m house sitting for another week but joined this transformer today. If I use the scale at this house for my initial weigh in, then use mine - will I get disqualified for using a different scale?

I've done this in the past from scales in hotel rooms and been okay. Judges tend to be understanding ;-)

WayBetter Kristin

It will be ok. The only problem you might run into is if they read differently for you and you have to adjust to make your goal.
