How we feeling???

We have a big temptation weekend coming up (well, most of us). Who has plans?? I used to go all out for Halloween, even won a handful of costume contests! Now...I'm #oldmanstatus and just don't have the energy.

I'm a bit lucky, we live on a busier street so in the 4 years we've lived here, I have had exactly 3 trick or treaters total....so this year, I'm skipping buying candy and that will help me not eat all the 100 grands and baby ruths ;) I'm going to make homemade pizzas with the kids and I bought a chocolate haunted house for us to build together - that'll be tempting but hopefully I'll only have a bit.

How to survive:
1. Remember, it's one day. One day will NOT make or break you, if you can treat it as ONE day, enjoy it reasonably. Have a bit of chocolate (maybe actually pay attention to the serving size and respect it ;)). Just remember to not let it derail you and turn into 3 or 4 days :)
2. Make a plan! If you're pretty sure you're gonna have too much candy...buy less! Or, make a point to be extra generous an hour or so before the kids start disappearing from the streets - just get it out of the house ;)
3. Save a couple of your faves and say "I'll eat these when I win my weigh-in!"

I like haunted houses too but yeah i feel like those would be hard!!

Any scary movie recommendations?? And yummm to the taffy apple! I wonder if theres a “healthier” version since its an apple to start with...like lower sugar caramel or somethin

Cherry R.

I have a sensitive bone to watching scary movies. I usually start watching and then pause the movie to get my heart rate to slow down. LOL

On Netflix, I see movies like Jacob's Ladder and Bird Box, which l have never seen before. So l am thinking about watching those two movies this weekend.

32 hours!!! Good for you! Ive gone as long as 24 on accident and i absolutely FELT it

Keep makin good choices and youll get there! But keep in mind, any progress is a win even if you dont make the goal weight  ive definitely had my fair share of “losses” in the games but as long as you try, its something to be celebrated in the long run

Cherry R.

Thank you so much

How is it already the weekend?!?

Does anyone have plans? Tonight im making salmon for dinner and watching halloween movies with the kids. And i have laundry in the machine which maaaay sit there till tomorrow....

The weekends can be the hardest and/or the easiest depending on your schedule. When i worked a normal 9-5 M-F job, the weekends actually ended up being my best eating days because there was ALWAYS FOOD AT WORK. What about you?

This weekend, push for 1 good change. Maybe a walk on Sunday during half time of whatever sport is going on...or an extra 15 minutes at the gym if thats your thing. Somethin small is fine! What im going for is just something out of the ordinary that you can be proud of and build from.

What do you think you can commit to this weekend? Lets hear it 😁

  • SNACKS.

Let’s share some fave healthy snacks to get us thru the day!!!

    My go-to’s:
Cheese! Mango with tanjin. Skinny pop. Built Bars. More cheese.
And im as basic as they come, LOVE an ice cold McDonalds Diet Coke or Starbucks Iced Coffee (light 2%, less sweetener too).

Anyone else treat a pop or full calorie iced coffee as a snack? On a mental level, you like things more that are considered special (ie. treats) rather than a daily “NEED TO HAVE THIS.” You enjoy it more and you dont get as salty if you skip a day in the name of losing weight.

I love built bars when I want something sweet. My go to is reduced fat string cheese and an apple.

Honesty is amazing. And so are you.
No need to be ashamed when we fall short, just pick it up and keep going. It won’t take you away from your goals.

Believe it. You’re on the right track.

Cherry R.

Thank you all so much. I needed these self reflective comments to get me back in the game to improve my eating habits. Thank you :)

My weight is seriously fluctuating (let's be honest, one day I'm eating like a champ and the next I'm weak). Am I the only one?

Fluctuations are huge! My weight is going up. I think I am learning for me this is largely due to water intake. Drinking water is a chore for me, but I feel so much better when I hit my intake target!

Venessa

Same here!

What app should l start using to working on my jelly rolls around my stomach and sides. Also my arms. Legs l do swats and ride my bike. I definitely use my treadmill for cardio. Just trying to see if there is hope for me to get a toned up stomach. I was looking at a YouTube video to work on my arms.

I don't know. I guess l am exhausted thinking about it all.

While you can build muscle in certain areas, spot fat reduction is a myth. So just keep doing the workouts you like best and keep that scale moving to get toned up. I don’t use an app for workouts now because the gym is closed, but when it was open I used Fitbod.

Thank you Mike

Well I finished my 24 hour fast yesterday and then ate a healthy dinner. Got ready for the gym and was walking out the door when I got a call letting me know my grandpa had passed away. I was prepared and expecting it to happen, but after that I didn’t feel like the gym. As I thought back to all the good times we had together I was reminded of the lessons he taught me about hard work. While I am saddened by his passing I know he would not want me to use it as an excuse to slack off on my goals. I will make it to the gym tonight and keep to my plans of getting back into shape!
