I'm definitely not making my goal for this round, that does mean I'm still in I believe. This is my first transformer, I hate losing but I've been at a stall for a while. Losing inches but that doesn't help here much lol.

It IS so annoying that we work so hard and are unable to “prove” it with the weigh-in. Just remember your long term goal of better health and you are a winner for that. {{{hugs}}}

Also, losing the inches is AMAZING! Probably the reason the scale is messing with you. Excellent job of it!

Losing inches is fantastic!!! Way to go, be proud of yourself

OK, just a little vent – I was doing really well but went on vacation at the beginning of this month. I ate the food and drank the wine just like you should do on vacation. And honestly, I was only up about 2 pounds on the scale so I wasn’t super worried about it. But since getting back I’m falling into old habits. People are definitely telling me it looks like I’ve been losing weight, but I’m worried about the March goal

I had that problem after going on vacation … overall my meals were pretty healthy but I was eating more treats than usual. It was hard to go back to eating fewer treats when I got back. But it’s gotten a little better this week. Stick with it and you will get back on track! Moderate wine consumption was always tough for me so I have been alcohol free for 4 years now. Sugar is my challenge hah

I had a similar problem. My spring break was last week. I went out to eat every day with someone different. Sometimes it was eating and drinking. Overall, not a big deal, because it was one week (and only the week days at that.) But I did have trouble getting the good habits back on and the bad habits off. However, I think I've balanced out by now. I'm not feeling that great about the March goal, though...might be closer than it should have been! March will have been a no progress month for me.

  • That significant weight loss two weeks ago was a 3 day fasting plan. Just shows you that the only sensible approach is steady and patient. These past two weeks of fluctuations have not been easy however I kept believing that weight loss was going to happen and seems like I am back on the road to sensible and steady.

I completely agree! I had Influenza A toward the beginning of the bet, and lost quite a bit at once because I was so sick. The constant back and forth once I could eat again was frustrating to say the least, and now I seem to be at a plateau. Keep reminding myself to stick with it and things will work out.

@ Kelli thanks for the tips. I’ve been drinking lots of water and eating clean, whole foods but I probably could do better to make sure I’m eating enough!

I had gotten to my goal for this round and then I went on a weekend trip that turned into a week-long trip based on the inability to drive through the terrible weather we’ve been having! And I ate like crap the whole time and am now above the weight I started at. So I might not might it this round—or maybe I can turn it around! But I’m not going to let it discourage me. I need to keep focusing and get back in the game!

Pounds quickly gained are often quickly lost, so I have hope for you. Even if you don't make it, though, half the money is tied up in round 6, so you can still break even or better! :)

The Beard of Reason

You can turn it around! Just have faith in yourself and don't let that one freak of nature weather keep you down.

Just focus and get back on track. You might not win this round, but there is still a bunch left to tackle.

Hit my first month’s goal and almost to my 2nd month goal. Does anyone know if Diet Bet adjusts your next monthly goal based on the previous month’s loss? This is my first time doing this.

I’ve hit mine too. After I’m close to my next goal, I think I’m going to join another diet bet with new goals to stay motivated!

I seriously want to kill this goal! It’s been a few years of letting life derail me in ways I know I shouldn’t have. Like emotionally eating & drinking daily 1-3 sometimes more of alcoholic beverages. Those calories and sedentary desk job has taken its toll. I’m ready to reclaim my health and be the highest version of myself!

A mantra that’s been helping me is what would my future healthy self do?? And then do that.

My birthday is July 10th and I can’t see any better present to myself than being closer to my ideal body weight and shape with the help of this challenge.

Hi everyone, did anyone else find this week challenging?

For me, it started out full of motivation and intention and then the wheels started quickly falling off and I wasn't even busy. Had an unhealthy takeaway one night and then yesterday tracked all day and was doing really well until I went to a friend's house and they pulled out all the leftover holiday chocolate, mince pies and crisps.
Emotional eating is definitely an issue for me but also that thing of don't think about a pink elephant (food)...all I can think about is a pink elephant.

I'm going to start trying affirmations morning and evening.
I am walking every day, even if just 5 mins to the shop.
I'm trying to use miso soup as a snack, hard to binge when your belly is full of liquid!

Any tips from the boredom/emotional/self sabotaging/comfort eaters here?

This week was hard for me too! My body was so used to sugar, wine, and bread from the holiday. I can be an emotional eater too. My tips:

- Journal when you're feeling emotional. If you don't have time for full sentences, even just jotting down your trigger, the feelings, and your initial responses helps you shift your brain from reaction to action.

-keep some healthier high-volume foods ready. Popcorn is a good one! If you like crunch, veggies with a yogurt dip. If you like sweet, find a Chia pudding recipe you like and add berries.

- take a walk or call a supportive friend when you feel the urge to emotionally eat. Distraction and self care are powerful tools.

I'm the opposite of Taylor, it's way easier for me to be perfect all the time than it is for me to start eating junk food and then trust myself to stop. The real trick is finding ways to make you comfort food healthy.

I was on a good way last year. And then I fell off the wagon.
But I am happy to report that I got a CPAP machine so I generally feel better every day. And now that that's sorted out I can concentrate on eating healthier!

My biggest struggle seems to be to find something good for when I'm not actually hungry but "my mouth is lonely" (if that makes sense?)
What do you guys do when that happens?
Chewing gum sadly is not an option for me.

@rachel w - don't give up! Keep trying. It's worth it. I've been using one for 17 years and now I don't even take a nap without it (except accidently once in a great while sitting up on the couch). Keep working with your provider. I'm a side sleeper and I use comfort gel Nasal mask. It works really well for me. Good luck!

Kort S.

@And B- I’ve been doing that lately too! Especially with being off for winter break and my sleep schedule being so off.
