Losing weight & breastfeeding - any experience, ladies? Will it go harder or easier when we are done with breastfeeding? My LO is 9 months old and I originally wanted to breastfeed till she is 1 year old but she is not a fan of food yet, just this week started to pay more attention to food but it’s just discovering the flavors. So I guess she will need more time to transition to food. On one hand breastfeeding should work as a workout in terms of calories and give me more space to eat, on the other hand hormones are smart and may keep me from losing. I was hoping to be at my goal weight in 3 months from now but it’s not happening I guess...

I breast fed all 10 of our babies (one at a time). With the first 9, I had no luck losing weight while breastfeeding, probably largely because I used "keeping my supply up" as an excuse to indulge in large amounts of chocolate. With my last, I had gestational diabetes and completely changed my eating habits while pregnant. I used water to keep my supply up (works better than chocolate, BTW), and didn't do chocolate, and lost weight.. If this helps? I'm glad. If not, just do what works for you!

I breastfed one for 15 months and one for 12. I think weight loss is easier but you need to be cautious of how many calories you restrict or your supply will drop. That happens fast and the seems to take triple the time to get it back!!

Hi, I just signed up for this now, but realise the weigh in is in 5 hours. I'm in Australia and at work. I can weigh in in around 8 hours if that works?

Hi Trotting! You actually have up until day 14 of the game to submit your initial weigh-in however we do recommend that you submit it as soon as possible so you can begin working on your goals. :)
