November 21 - 22

It’s the final weekend of this DietBet. Time flies!

I hope you enjoyed this challenge. The step challenges are fun, and hope they give you an extra boost of incentive to move throughout the four weeks.

On Monday, there will be two Check In posts. One post will be for the weekend step challenge. And the second post will be for the 28 days of 10,000 steps. So for a short time, the Challenge Winner Board will not be pinned towards the top (I can only have two posts pinned at a time.). Once winners are drawn from the last two challenges, it will be re-pinned.

I have not yet set up a follow on game yet. I am on vacation camping this week with my family. I will set something up for after Thanksgiving though. If you’re interested in another challenge, be on the lookout in your inbox for the email invitation to join.

I hope you all have a nice Thanksgiving (or as nice as can be under the circumstances!). Thank you for participating.

For today's step challenge, you need to get a minimum of 9,000 steps. And don't forget to come back tomorrow to comment on the Check In post, too, if you complete it!

Measuring versus weighing

You're doing everything right. You're eating healthy. You're exercising. You're drinking water. You're tracking your food intake. In spite of all your effort though, the scale isn't moving.

Let's take a look at the difference between measuring your food (with measuring cups, measuring spoons) versus weighing your food (with a food scale).

If you're measuring a cup of cereal, oatmeal, etc., you could easily consume 10-20% more in calories in just that one food in your meal plan. Add that up with all of the other food you consume in a day, you may be consuming 100s of calories more in a day than you intended.

A food scale doesn't have to be elaborate to be effective. You need something that can measure in grams and also have a zero or tare button. I find that measuring certain things like peanut butter, for example, is much easier by putting the whole jar on the scale. Zero out the weight, then scoop out the desired amount of peanut butter in grams rather than how they measure in the video link above.
