  • We're into our final stretch of this game, but our endeavors and goals will reach well beyond that. What's some advice you could give us about your journey? What has helped you stay consistent and continue to see results in the long run? For many of us, that's where the real challenge comes in, maintaining after we lose the weight.
    For me, it has really helped to find moderation. Moderation helped get me away from my all or nothing mentality, better shifting my focus away from food. But we're all different.
    What have you learned from all your efforts and experiences? We'd love to hear from you.

Mine is finding a long term (3 months ish)goal and mixing it with resetting mentally each week. Right now I'm training for the Savage Race- it gives me a tangible thing to strive for with an actual completion date, but then I reset each week. I evaluate and plan out my week over the weekend, and if I had a rough week with being off track, I reevaluate plans and reset my mental focus! I would love to say I can be relaxed about just doing everything, but the minute I don't have a plan for the day set ahead of time, it's almost garenteed that I will swerve from my eating or workout. It's a constant mental focus at this time in my life, maybe down the road that will change, but for now I know it's working to always set my workouts the night before I go to bed, have meals in plan, have my gallon water jug ready for the next day, etc

  • It's time for, The Nutrition Challenge!

    It starts on Monday ends Friday!

    Here are the requirements:

    1- Eat 5 servings a day from the fruit/vegetable group. It can be all vegetables or any combo of both. What is a serving? For the purpose of our game, we will use the American Heart Association definition: Vegetables: 1 cup of raw leafy vegetables (about the size of a small fist), 1/2 cup of other vegetables or 1/2 cup of vegetable juice. Fruits: 1 medium fruit (the size of a baseball); 1/2 cup chopped, cooked or canned fruit; or 1/2 cup juice.

    2-Also, drink at least 64 ounces of water a day. We're focusing on our water intake again as well.

    *If you need any adjustments to these nutrition challenges for specific health reasons, please let me know.

    One suggestion, but not part of the challenge: Please post at least one picture of a healthy meal you eat this week. It provides great ideas for everyone in our game! And remember to make healthy food choices in other food groups, but we are not measuring those for this challenge.

    I will ask at the end of the week, starting on Friday, if you completed the challenge. You will need to report in under that post. You will have until 12 PM PST on Saturday to report in. I will then put all the players who completed this week's challenge into our drawing for a $30 Amazon gift card!

    This is not required, but at least once during the week, post about what you did for a workout. It will help give the rest of us some good ideas, encouragement, and motivation!

Hello everyone! My husband & I have will have been married for 18 years in March & we have one child, a daughter who is 15. I'm a SAHM, homeschool my daughter, & also work at home part-time. I've been homeschooling since our daughter was 8. I started homeschooling because our daughter was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes in February 2012 when she was just 8. So my number one job is Type I Diabetes & keeping my daughter safe! Because of T1D I don't get a lot of sleep & my "schedule" is very crazy & inconsistent. Because of all this craziness I've turned to food (bad food) to help "cope" with everything. I've decided to try to take back control & get healthy & start taking care of me!

Aimee R.... To say the last 17 months has been a whirlwind would be an understatement! We have another Endo appointment tomorrow.... Every day we conquer something new.... Some days I cry, some days I feel like a rockstar! The day I read your post was a rough day, but just seeing your post in the group somehow made things ok! IDK why, I was trying to explain it to my husband! :blue_heart:

We'll hit our 7th year next month & I still have days like that. It's hard to watch your baby go through the things T1D does to them. When you hear/others journey it helps you feel like you're not alone. I'm glad my comment helped you when you saw it! I'm here if you need it.
