So, in the middle of my first dietbet I received a Fitbit Charge HR for my birthday.   I got my wife the same thing since she's participating in the same game.  Oddly we didn't plan to buy each other the same thing (birthdays are 2 days apart).

After using it for a day, I was super OCD about all the data it could provide.  I think the most motivating aspect was actually seeing caloric burn for the day.  Why?  It's the first time logging food really mattered and was easy enough to use for me.   Fitbit site made it pretty easy to log food and comparing that to the calorie burn REALLY got me into the "gamification" aspect of "less in" than I burn.   I probably have been checking it too much in the two weeks I've had it.

I think the combination of a money investment and the fitbit has really enabled me to probably look at this more long term than I have in the past where my interest in dieting tended to wain.   Time will tell, but this is the stickiest I've FELT in terms of positive attitude that I could actually meet my goal weight.

The 10,000 steps challenge daily, really makes me want to walk everywhere as well. Looking forward to the idea of more future augmented reality games around activity some day.

The only real fail with the fitbit happened the first time I took the riding mower out with it on.  Lesson learned! (take it off before riding mower use lol, or get lots of unearned steps!)

I hope others try some tool in combination with the dietbet challenge and it helps you get fired up to get this done!
