We are pretty low carb. First it was for me and weight loss then it was for my husband and his blood sugar. However, obviously low carb does not insure a low healthy weight nor lifestyle. Today we are mostly vegetarian and at least 80% 'clean' I think is the term.

Can you share your recipe for squash lasagna?! I've made one using butternut squash before and it was incredible!! (I try to avoid dairy, so mine was sans cheese, but I scrambled an egg and covered the top of the layers of squash and meat sauce, and it looked just like cheese! :)

Day 8 of Transformer: Getting closer to - or farther from - a goal

My philosophy is I need goals for myself! I have long term goals for my family for my daughter...for me and my husband but not for myself!!....So I said to myself how am i suppose to support others in their goals or our goals if I can't even motivate myself. I gain a whole lot more in losing weight than leaving it there. I have nothing to gain but weight if I dont change. No one wants that!

Pirwaki

Great job pushing yourself and sticking to your goal! I like your approach, too. Mine is similar. Well, I should say mine ARE similar, since I'm discovering that I have many, many philosophies on this whole shebang. I pretty much have a manifesto. The one I've tapped into best is changing my definition of "deserve." I've had to basically reprogram myself about this concept, and doing that has changed EVERYTHING for me. In the past, if I had a hard day, I "deserved" a pint of ice cream or a glass of wine. In the past, if I had a great day, I "deserved" to eat cookies until I felt sick. In the present, I DESERVE better. I deserve to feel good and be healthy. That means I deserve to go to the gym. I deserve to think ahead about my meals so I always know what's going in, and I never feel hungry and start eating crap. I have a completely different relationship with food now; I've stopped associating the junk that used to give me comfort with positive things and started thinking about it as what ultimately made me fat and therefore sad. Food is fuel. Changing my mind about this has what has made it possible for me to go from living to eat, to eating to live. It feels pretty damn good. :)

Thank you all for your suggestions! So great to see so many fellow caffeine fiends here! There's something very comforting about coffee and when you have that perfect cup, it's the best thing ever.

I have the same vice and whenever I am determined to lose weight I nix half and half all together. It is rough at first and then after a few days without it I find myself craving less and less. I will use milk in my tea and since it is tolerable but not delicious I find myself drinking less and less. I flood my body with water and I substitute something like a crystal light drink in between my water to take the place of tea while I am transitioning. I am always amazed at how quickly I can drop a couple lbs just by cutting out those fat calories. When I am ready I begin to treat myself to one large cup of green tea with half and half. It is a slippery slope and I have to be careful not to fall back into the "comfort" trap of adding half and half. Been struggling with this on and off for what seems like forever. I am right there with you!!

Hope you feel better soon! Ask for other meds too, if the ibuprofen does not help. Having the root canal done should make you sleep much better, though, fingers crossed!
