I gained the Freshman 35 when I was in college and am still trying to dwindle that down. I am 15 pounds away from my goal weight but I can't seem to shake off these last pounds.
I would be fine if it was 15lbs of muscle I gained, but over a year ago, I stepped on this scale that sent a small electric pulse to measure what % body fat I am. I had 26%--or as my boyfriend put it, I was a quarter fat. That really blew my mind. So i went to the gym and worked hard, but not hard enough. 6 months later I checked again, and there was no change. That was really depressing. I was counting my calories, counting my carb to protein to fat ratios and everything.
Then I started running outside again, trail runs, hills etc. I have been doing that for 6 months now. I hadn't weighed myself that whole time, but I was feeling great! I felt leaner, I felt like I could see a difference. So a couple weeks ago, I weighed myself... I am still the same weight. I did not check my % body fat, so I guess there is a chance that my fat "turned" to muscle, but I just don't know.
So I guess, I am not really expecting to win this pot. I am more concerned with my body fat percentile than my actual weight, but i have a feeling that if i were to cut that percentile down to even 18%, that i would probably lose the pounds too.
What are some things you do to "trim the fat"? ;)
