I'm thinking I might try to actually follow Starch Solution. I need to eat in a way that I feel satisfied and have an easier time saying no to french fries and pastries when away from home or at the grocery store. Those marked-down bakery donuts sing a mean siren song!

A couple of things messed me up last time. The first was that I had a case of food poisoning. I guess I didn't wait long enough to go back to eating a high-fiber diet 75-85 g/day) and I ended up with a diverticulitis flare. I had to eat low-density for a little while to try to calm the inflammation (I actually added in some meat and oil in an effort to try to feel fuller). I missed my fiber!

The second thing was that I had 2 temporary crowns for the last 3 weeks. They were replaced on Monday so I'll finally be able to chew on both sides again! I'm so excited. Gone are the days of eating raw carrots (too many micro-fractures from a lifetime of grinding my teeth; they break too easy now), but at least I'll be able to chew cooked ones!

I feel much better prepared this time, physically, to win the challenge. I'm going to spend some time before it starts deciding on how I want to go about it and maybe doing some menu planning. I also plan to keep updates about my progress at my blog.

You up for the challenge?
