What do you think of the trendiest fitness classes of the moment?
 
Do you rush to try the latest thing - and do the bells and whistles really make your workout more effective? 
 
Will a barre, surfboard, or pole in your workout make you leaner? Are oversized ropes, sledgehammers, and truck tires better than free weights?
 
Well, yes and no. 
 
NO, gimmicky workouts aren't necessarily technically BETTER or MORE EFFECTIVE than more traditional workouts... But, the bottom line is, you are going to do the workout you WANT to do. If putting on a monitor and watching your heart rate on a big screen at Orangetheory, swinging a sledgehammer at the Caveman Workout, or working your core on a surfboard is going to get you to show up and work out, then, YES, they do work.
 
The latest trend I'd like to try? Wine with yoga. (Yes, it's a thing.)
