Hey everyone! I'm so glad to be part of Lexi's Diet Bet challenge (fatgirlfedup).  I've followed her weight loss journey story for a while and have been so inspired by her courage and determination.

I'm 37, married to an amazing man who supports me 100% in everything I do.  We have two beautiful children who are our world.

Recently I had a health scare that really set me back and made me re-evaluate so many things in my life.  I thought I was having a stroke two weeks ago.  I went to the ER with a numb tongue, and half my face paralyzed.  I was sent an hour away to the next city to have an emergency cat scan done on my head.  Having lost my father to brain cancer not even three years ago, all sorts of thoughts rushed through my mind...especially because this happened on what would have been his 65th birthday.

Thank goodness it wasn't a stroke or a tumor.  It's something called Bells Palsy, which is an inflamed cranial nerve that causes temporary paralysis of one or both sides of the face.  It can be caused by a number of things, but for me I feel it was definitely stress.  Some people struggle with BP for years, so it's not always a temporary thing.  I have regained about 80% of my facial movements and my smile is starting to look symmetrical again.  I'm one of the lucky ones.

I am fortunate it wasn't a stroke.  At my age and weight it very well could have been.  I decided after resting for over a week, taking it easy so I can heal, that it's time to actually do something once and for all about my weight.  When I saw Lexi was hosting another Diet Bet, I had to get in on the game this time.

Today was my first workout for a long time. I did a 1 mile walk at home.  Leslie Sansone has amazing walk at home workouts.  I'm also planning to shake things up a bit by alternating between her workouts and DDP Yoga.  I've currently got chicken breast and veggies roasting in the oven for supper.  I feel so good after doing that mile walk.  I can't wait to do it again tomorrow.

A BIG THANK YOU to LEXI for inspiring and motivating other people to finally make the changes they need to.  You are definitely one of my heroes.
