Here's what I've found works for me, at least:- Figure out something else that makes you feel good and do that instead - going for a drive with music on really loud, walking your dog, planting some flowers. You're not after the nutrition in the food, obviously, you're after something else. It fills a need for you. Think about what that need is, and find some healthier ways to fill it.- Don't let yourself get too hungry. Eat frequent small meals to keep your blood sugar steady and so you don't get that panicky starving feeling.- When you do eat something you really like, slow down and think about WHY you are eating it. Taste, texture, smell, associated memories, comfort. It takes a while for your body to send "I'm full!" to your brain. Slow down and give it a chance.- Do something physical that helps you slow down and feel better - breathe deeply, meditate, do a yoga stretch. This allows you to help your stress with a physical solution rather than food... which leaves you more upset.- Overeaters Anonymous has a thing called HALT - you ask yourself before you eat if you're Hungry - Angry - Lonely - Tired. Again, it helps you tap into WHY you're eating.- Drink lots of water. Water, water, water. It keeps you busy, it keeps something coming in, it fills you up, it's good for you.Good luck and please let us know how it's going!
