Ok, we've all heard the bad buzz on low-carb diets right? I hear it quite a bit from my vegeterian husband and I know there are a lot of mixed opinions. I'm sure as I log my food choices now and then, I might seem like one of the crazies...but I promise, I'm not. ;)
There is a method to my madness....so here are a few of the reasons behind the path I've chosen and the things I put in my mouth along the way.
1.
I don't eat bacon. BOOM! Ok, common sense has to be part of this process. Eating a ribeye and a pound of bacon, slathered in your choice of cheese or mayonnaise every day...not a good diet and NOT what I do. :) To me that's not about Low Carbs, that's just about using my noggin. I'm actually enjoying learning about the things that ARE low carbs and aren't otherwise deadly...LOL.
2.
So, my daughter was recently diagnosed insulin resistant, close to Diabetic and in her doctor's eyes that would be an irreversible death sentence. Well this mama got crazy. I control every bite that kid takes and it's working. She's lost almost 30 pounds so far. I already have a vegeterian husband and two 'normal' teenage boys so I didn't need to add MY diet to that list of menus, I had to choose one. Well my daughter is the only one losing any weight and since I have to micro-manage her anyway, I figured she and I living the same lifestyle is best.
3.
Food choices. Sometimes, I just have to get something IN my stomach. I don't have time to make the BEST choice, but if I choose NOTHING, then I'm starving and I'll mess up even worse later on. So.... do I stop at Sonic for a New York Dog, throw away the bun and eat the meat, cheese, onions and sauerkraut?? Yes, yes I do. :)
The BEST success I ever had on a diet was after reading a book by Mary Lou Henner on going organic and using food combinations. It was good clean livin' and it worked.
