I can usually manage the worst of my fibromyalgia symptoms with nutrition & exercise, but when I flare, all I want is carbs. Not necessairily anything overly unhealthy like potato chips, but still - too many carbs do not make for a balanced diet and, ironically, they seem to make me feel worse the next day. Obviously, I KNOW this, but that doesn't seem to be a huge help in deterring my carb fests.
I tried to snap myself out of it last night with a healthy dinner - I found an intriguing recipe for ground turkey & sweet potato meatloaf, and I made roasted Brussels sprouts to go with it. I wasn't feeling very good, but I just reminded myself that nutrition is even more important when I'm flaring.
It was a disaster. The flavor of the meatloaf was really good, but the texture was so completely off-putting that it rended the dish inedible. I swear, it was like turkey pudding. And I managed to put waaaaay too much olive oil on the Brussels sprouts, so they ended up pretty greasy & not much more edible than the meatloaf.
I ended up having Frosted Mini-Wheats for dinner. LOL
