So, I started my second game yesterday and unfortunately but true, I gained 1.8 pounds since I started the first game a week ago. Although I have a few reasons; I have 0 excuses... My mindset has to change and I have to eradicate excuses that have allowed me to play and perform well below my capabilities.

Last Thursday, we had a holiday party at the office and we had a talent show. Some sang, another payed an instrument and sang, and another team member even rapped. All of them were fantastic. I decided to throw my hat in the ring and get out of my comfort zone and give the team a challenge... Creating, cajoling, making 2015 the best year ever. It doesn't matter, I said, whether you're 18 or 80, 2015 can be the best year ever.... I presented 3 points:

  1. Stop procrastinating  - Do it now! (I'm a big procrastinator.)
  2. Take myself out of the center - It's time for me to do things for others. Could I work more effective and efficiently for my team if I were more fit? Of course. Could I do more for my project partner if I were 10-20 or more lbs. less - in other words, healthier? Of course. Could I be a better father, son, and spouse with less weight? Of course. (I've been trying to lose the weight for years... more years than I care to count.)
  3. Lastly, stop worrying about what other people think, especially when we want to do things out of the norm: eat and drink healthier, park the car further for the walk... Know the goal and focus on getting it done. I need to put on the blinders and really make things happen.

As I reflect on 2014, hindsight being 20/20, I can easily see where I allowed myself to go off track. 2015 will be a different year. Although we don't know what will happen, I can certainly improve my station by ensuring that I handle whatever happens in a way that best allows me to move forward in some way.

I am setting a very big 2015 goal...and that is to lose 140 pounds. From around 330 pounds (with a previous high of 373) to 170. It's a big huge goal - for me, but I know it's time.

My educated guess is that Dietbet and this community will inspire and encourage me along the way as I hope to for others.

So, here's to making 2015 the best year ever!!!
