I did really well a couple of summers ago, walking 2.3 miles every day over my lunch hour. Walking the dog on the walking trail near my home nearly every day for another 3.5 miles/90 minutes. Plus I bought a kayak and just walked it to the lake across the street from my backyard neighbors. I also did several HIIT workouts from Melissa Bender and others. Finally, I also started doing qi gung a form of tai chi for flexibility, etc.

The biggest change was I swithced to a low carb diet and the first week lost eleven pounds and felt great. My energy skyrocketed and I had no carb cravings and stuck to a healthy diet and being active. The weight loss slowed to a normal pace, but I was making headway.

I got so I could hold a plank for nearly two minutes and do 50+ pushups. My allergies didn't bother me as much and my skin cleared up.

I then got into a rut where I was "busy" and I slowly fell away from all exercise and started eating poorly again. It did not take long to undo all my hard work.

Well, I have lost a few pounds eating mostly healthy, now it's time to kick it into gear and turn up my metabolism. It also helps that I have low vitamin D, and started taking prescription strength capsules. Vitamin D is linked to energy and weight and other health issues.

I just hit 50 years old in September, and I will be a grandfather any day now. I want to be a grandfather who is able to play with his grandchildren for decades to come. I would love to be a great-grandfather who can play with his great grandchildren too. I've had bad knees since I was a teenager, and I am sure losing the 70+ pounds I have accumulated since then will help avoid knee surgery/replacement. I have high blood pressure and was on my way to getting off medication. I also want to avoid diabetes which runs in my family.

It will probably also help dating, even though a lot of women say appearance doesn't matter, that does not hold true for the women I would like to get to know.

It is my choice what I do with my life, so I have accepted the diet bet challenge from Melissa Bender. I like Melissa's positive attutude and the way she shares her training and experience from different disciplines to craft a variety of workouts.

It would be cool to both hit my goal and make a profit. In spite of my profit desires, I hope we are all winners!
