Aaahhh!  I did it.  I have sent in a picture of myself and another of the scale, showing my 'before' weight. I have always liked accountability, but usually by those that I know, love, and trust.  Getting 'public' (sort of) with this goal is a tad bit out of my comfort zone, but I really need to mix it up.

I am a 43 year old mother of six and making my health a priority has far too long taken a back seat.  In addition to the busyness that accompanies having a larger family, I halso had the honor of taking care of my mother for 13 years prior to her moving on to her home in Heaven (October 2012).  In that role of caregiver, I was able to see, firsthand, how much more challenging everything was for my mom due to her weight.  Carrying so much weight caused every one of her health issues to be that much worse - from her diabetes to her spinal stenosis.  And, although I was happy to be there to help her, the amount of dependence that she needed to place on me was also largely due to how much extra weight she carried.

I have a lot of head knowledge about what changes need to take place in my life, and - more importantly - what kinds of healthy eating and living habits I want to model and instill in my own family.  I just have to turn this knowledge into action....which is usually my sticking point.

I'm looking forward to this!
