I see a lot of people wishing each other, "Good luck!" on the main comments page, and it is truly wonderful to see such positive encouragement going around!!
I know these are just that-- positive, healthy, encouragement and so I'm not writing any of this to criticize people who have said it.
That said, allow me to argue semantics for a minute (I'm really fun at parties):
As in many areas of life, success in this journey really has very little to do with luck. Compared to how far proper planning and discipline will take you, luck is negligble.
If you explicitly plan your diet and exercise in a healthy manner to reach your goals, and then exercise discipline to stick with your plan, you're gonna see results. This is one of those things where your day to day choices will define the outcome.
You don't often hear people say things like, "Man, I'm sure lucky that piece of cake didn't jump in my mouth!", or "What Luck! The special treadmill that burns twice the calories for the same effort is open!"
So that's why (except for occasional slip ups) you won't see me wishing people "good luck".
Instead, "I encourage you all to come up with a solid plan for meeting your goals, and then stick with it, with encouragement from this great community!" I guess that's a little more of a mouthful than "good luck". Well, if I ever do tell you good luck, just assume that's what I actually meant!
