I went for fish tacos last week for dinner on my cheat day.  Perhaps not the best choice, but I was REALLY craving them and I knew that as long as I had that taste in my head I would do more damage grazing, trying to ignore the craving.

So I gave in.

First, damn they were good.  When you have been eating really healthy the occasional splurge tastes so much better. Second, while you wait for your order at the taco truck, they hand you a little cup of tomato cabbage soup.  And I remembered this soup from some fad diet in the 90s, and while the soup might have been part of some crazy fad, it wasn't in itself bad.

I actually like this soup. And if I remember correctly it actually takes more calories to digest the soup, than are actually IN the soup, or at least close.

So I made a giant pot of it, cabbage, celery, onions and tomatoes with some spicy salsa. While it won't kill every craving, it is warm and filling, a little bit salty, and a little bit spicy.  I think it will feed some good gut bacteria too.  Toss in some proper protein consumption and it is a pretty balanced meal.  So here's to 90's fad diets combined with new millenium knowledge.
