My watch word for this Fight Fat in February with Bruce Pitcher (FFFBP) dietbet has been "determined", as in I'm determined to make good changes, establish good habits (21 days to make a new habit, right?)  and lose some weight before my daughter's wedding this summer.   Today, I think my "determined" would be better defined as discovered, as in "it has been determined that I don't have much self control".  I have struggled to work out each day since I started  the FFFBP dietbet.  Even though the weather has been bitterly cold, that's no excuse because I have easy access to a great fitness center.   I have a car with a heater so I'm not walking miles in the extreme weather to get to the fitness center.  I have simply chosen not to workout, telling myself I'm too busy and it's too cold to go out.  It is said we have time for the things that truly matter to us.   I have to quit fooling myself and admit that I have simply been lazy.  I know, for me, I will not lose weight on good food habits alone.  I have to work out doing strength/weight training at least 3 times a week, combined with some sort of daily cardio (wogging, swimming, biking, hiking, etc.)  in order for me to have weight loss success.

That being said, I had a great weekend getaway celebrating my birthday with some dear friends.  I thought I was eating sensibly and we worked out together Saturday and Sunday using a Jillian Michaels DVD.  So imagine my surprise today to see I gained weight. I thought I would at least maintain my weight.  So, now  I really have my work cut out for me if I want to win my FFFBP dietbet.    On top of that,  I decided to join a second kickstarter dietbet, Losing it with Lisa, which starts tomorrow.  I enjoyed watching Lisa lose her weight on the Biggest Loser (I was rooting for her to win the show) and I have appreciated her sensible suggestions on her facebook page.  I saw a post on her facebook page a couple weeks ago about her upcoming dietbet and decided to join her dietbet.  However, I didn't want to wait 2 weeks to start my weight loss, so I found the FFFBP dietbet and joined it two weeks ago.   People on FFFBP have been encouraging, honest, and helpful.    My lack of achievement is all mine to own.  Sigh....okay, get over it and do something.

So, I am putting my workouts on the calendar like an appointment.  Without overwhelming myself,  my goals in the next two weeks are:  keep my workout appointment daily, drink my water, NO eating after 8 pm (I'm a night-time muncher), and watch my portion sizes.  What I eat isn't the problem, it's the quantity.  So, that's it!  Those four things!   Nobody else can do the work needed for me to have success in losing weight.  I own it and I'm renewed in my determination to win these two dietbets, but even more importantly to me, I'm renewed in my determination to lose the necessary weight for my daughter's wedding this summer and be the weight that God designed my body to be.

Today's workout appointment starts in 10 minutes.  I GOT THIS!

Update:  YAY!  I kept my workout appointment today.
