1. Weight is not everything.

Since trying to lose weight in Jan, I weigh myself every morn and night and recorded it, + everything that I eat and exercise in a little diary that I started. But my weight progress is actually a lot slower than I expected. At the start of this dietbet, I thought hey, 2.3kg in a month really isn't much. I know I can do it, people lose 5kg a month and its normal. Its going to be easy. Now its more than 3 weeks in, and I've only lost 1.3kg, with 1kg more to go.

But I am so happy with myself and how I look now.

I've stuck pretty much religiously to Cassey's FABruary calendar. And I can see changes in my body + so can my friends. My sister even thought I had already hit my weight goal 2 weeks into this dietbet. My weight did not decrease much, but my body looks a lot better, and I think its because of the muscles that I have built up. My ideal weight has always been 53kg (117lbs), but now im starting to think that maybe, if I want to be sexy and fit 55kg(121lbs) with muscle is actually a good weight to be. And weight isnt the biggest indicator of how good my body looks.

2. I can cut my carbs, and I can still be satisfied.

I am a huge huge huge carbs lover. I LOVE noodles, I love rice. Have always been this way and I was never a health nut.  Didn't bother to find out about clean eating because I assumed it (a) wouldn't be delicious (b) is mostly western kind of food while I'm chinese and lots of healthy grains and foods are things that I'm just really not used to eating and don't like to eat (c) is going to be troublesome to cook/prepare.

I've never wanted to be those continue to eat the way I loved to eat. Then came Cassey + Dietbet and I learnt that your diet is responsible for 80% of your physique, + I started seeing many healthy and yummy looking food on the dietbet community page and I   also clicked into Cassey's healthy clean eats one day just for fun. And I thought.. hey I could maybe do this.

So a big part of this month has been spent trying to eat in a healthy way that still keeps me satisfied and happy. My goal has been to find a way the right combi of food and exercise to first hit my target weight, and then maintain it. I need smth that is sustainable, and it also involves habits to not overeat when im out for dinners with my friends or during celebrations and birthday feasts, and yet feel satisfied. I have tried it on Valentines, Chinese New Year, and 3 birthdays this month and I think I've made lots of progress.

3. When exercise gets boring, switch things up instead of just skipping it.

So...after close to a month of Cassey's FABruary, I am getting a little bit bored. Its like when she says smth halfway through a workout and I've alr heard it before not long ago. I'm the kind of person that bores really really easily. In the past, I'll find a workout I like, then I'll get bored and I stop exercising till I feel unhealthy again. So this time, I've made the effort to actively look for different sorts of workouts, and kept them in the queue. I have a kickboxing groupon date with a friend, 1 week trial yoga at a place I've alr checked out, trx workouts in the bag for when I get bored of POP pilates. And when I did get bored, I went for a one day free trial at my friend's gym and tried a trx class + a pilates class.

In the past, it did get tiring trying to find new youtube videos and stuff and I just gave up. But I'm more determined now and it helps that my friends are a also little more health conscious and suggest activities that they'll like to try out with me.

All in all, I spend a few minutes each day looking for new healthy recipes, and also new things to do.

Its been a great February~~
