@#$@# just lost my post. Here we go again.
So, I'm heading on vacation for TWO WEEKS to the beach in Mexico at an all-inclusive starting next Saturday. Yes, I know my life is charmed, but darnit I'm enjoying it while it lasts! I know I need a plan for while I'm there, becuase I am NOT COOL with just going whole hog and coming home 10 lbs heavier. Nope, not on. However, being a NA female, this is not my first rodeo in terms of trying to control my fitness while on vacation. So, I know some things about how this might work. Of new consideration is that this is my first time going on vacation while engaged in a dietbet (DB10), which, full disclosure, I missed my last goal. So, I decided to run a few scenarios to decide my approach to my vacation.
Strategy #1 - stay the course:
Strategy: focus on fitness on my vacation. Stay within my calorie goals, skip the booze (for the most part) and treats
Likelihood: Unlikely
Effect: I would make my Round 4 goal of the transformer(I'll be away for round 3). I would also be grumpy as all get out.
Strategy #2 - "vacation, the fit way"
Strategy: shift my calorie count to maintenance, workout daily, treats and booze if they fit
Likelihood: somewwhat likely
Effect: Make round 5 goal, moderately grumpy, yet will probably engender a feeling of success
Strategy #3 - "loosen the belt"
Strategy: this has been my previous strategy. Fill up onhealthy stuff, watch portion sizes, excercise every day, stick to wine and rum and diets, not fancy drinks
Likelihood: highly likely
Effect: Last year I gained 3.1 lbs with this strategy. Not to shabby, if I do say so myself. I would still scrape by on my round 5 goal.
Strategy # 4 - "vacation, the fit way" first week, "loosen the belt" for week 2
Strategy: see above
Likelihood: moderately likely
Effect: Same as strategy 3 DBwise, but probably a little grumpier
Based on this evidence, here's my plan:
- employ strategy #2 until it makes me grumpy, then switch to strategy #3. #1 is just not realistic, and I don't want to be that grumpy when I'm on vacation.
I feel quite satisfied with this analysis. Nerding for the win!
