Well, I'm back from vacation. It was wonderful, and I only gained 3.4 lbs eating and drinking at an all inclusive over 2 weeks. I credit the workouts, walking and beach volleyball. On the days I wore my vivosmart (it crapped out on day 3) I was well over 20 000 steps! Thank you tiny person for keeping me on the move.
This is where the story turns south. Arrived home late Saturday, exhausted. Ate a crummy (but delicious) late night snack (time zone meant no dinner). Sunday -easter. Managed to avoid the candy. Monday - holy crow I got into the Easter leftovers somethings awful. Tuesday - I don't even know what happened. You get the point - ended up in a 4 day bingefest.
Managed to stop the bleeding yesterday, kicking off my day with the first run-to-work of the season! WOO HOO. But wow, when I go off the rails, I really go off the rails.
The moral of this story is that I'm not good with taking breaks from healthy eating, or even treats in moderation (e.g. Wednesday had a couple of chocolate eggs around 10 am....followed by some nanaimo bars at a catered meeting....followed by some cookies at starbucks later.....). I've got to sort that out, if I'm going to be successful in being healthier in the long run. For me, it seems like a slippery slope.
I read this book http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20791450-food-junkies on Wednesday night. Mostly it's crap, I have to say, but the one thing that really spoke to me was group support. As much as a dislike the cost weight watchers, the group support is really great. Toying with the idea of setting up a group meeting with some of my friends who are using dietbet/MFP locally. Or maybe even an online meeting....hmmmmm....
