I have completely cleaned out my fridge and freezer.  It's now restocked with all the foods I CHOOSE to eat.

Before you applaud, I have to mention that I did not do this on purpose.  My fridge forced me to when it gave up the ghost over the weekend.  And, of course, this weekend had some of the HOTTEST days of the summer and I couldn't use the back-porch as a temporary fridge.  (BTW: I live in a more northern region of Canada.  While it does go over 30C in the summer, it drops to -30C in the winter.  And that's -22F for anyone not using metric.) You know it's a law of nature that a fridge will conk out in summer, never in winter.

So, I had to quickly empty it, park all the good stuff in my friends' fridges (envision frantic phone calls asking them how much space they had to spare), and throw out everything that had to go.  It was depressing how much stuff I ended up throwing out.  Expired foods, unhealthy foods, poor choices.  It was also depressing how little stuff I thought was good enough to save.

Now that I have a new fridge, I've been more careful about restocking it.

Now that it's over, I'm glad I cleared out my fridge.  My fridge is lean and mean, just like I'm becoming.  (well, maybe not "mean", but you know what I mean.  LOL)  My fridge is filled with all sorts of natural, healthy, good stuff.  Just like I am.  I've got healthy options already portioned and ready to go as handy snacks.  I can just reach in and grab ANYTHING and be happy with it.  It's tidy and organized and I can find everything right away.

I'm liking this.  I think I might tackle the pantry next.

So, I hope none of you will have to buy a new fridge, but perhaps you might choose to clear out a shelf or two.  Put what you want, what you REALLY want, on those shelves.  Make that fridge work FOR you.

Wishing everyone every success in a healthy new you!

Esther.
