Okay, I'm a pro at losing 15 pounds. I've done it here at DietBet several times. But after each 6 month weight loss period, I gorge on everything in sight and regain 10 pounds in just 4-8 weeks. The net effect is that I weight slightly less than I did 2 years ago. Hey--this is still a good thing!

But, maybe I need to re-think the way I interact with food. Clearly 6 months of deprivation works for helping me to shed weight. But when I transition from deprivation to abundance, I turn into a pig.

I really need to find a better way to eat. One that won't leave me feeling deprived for months at a time. One that I can stick with long term.

I've been reading a few books on "Intuitive Eating" and "Breaking Free from Emotional Eating". I haven't really digested how they can be applied to my life yet. But I'll keep thinking about the concepts.

I eat quite a bit from boredom. I do work at home on a computer, and sometimes I just need to get away from the monitor. And the kitchen is right next to my office. So, you guessed it, straight from the computer to the refrigerator. Or maybe the cupboard with the nuts and dried fruits. Or the bread box.

I keep asking myself why I'm eating when I'm really just trying to escape from work. I've started keeping tea making stuff out on the counter, and am getting better about helping myself to a cup of tea instead of a 100 calorie handful of dried fruits and nuts.

This is a start. A good start.

I'm on day 2 of a transformer, so I have 6 more months to come up with more changes to help in my weight loss journey. Since I signed up at 10 or 11pm last night, I'm counting today as Day 1.

My coach recommended listening to my body, and only eating when I'm hungry, and stopping eating when I am about 80% full--definately not stuffed. I need to think more about this concept and try to put it into action.

I have an exercise plan. Now might be a good time to do it.
