I didn't make a post last week. With the final weigh-ins, I wanted to wait and see if I made the cut before I posted. As it turns out, I won my kickstarter and my round one of the transformer! Since it has been about a month since I started, I can truly say that I think I've found some healthy habits that are working for me! This is a huge achievement for me as I'm pretty sure that I've been overweight since my sophomore year of high school. Since then, my weight has gone up and down multiple times. At one point, I made it back down to about 175 before I ballooned back up to about 220. Ugh. There have also been a few times that I had actually started being very healthy and losing weight at a good pace, but then would either get sick or injured (usually injured...) At that point, I would get really down and end up falling back into my unhealthy habits. Most recently, I got married last Summer. In the 6 months leading up to the wedding, I was determined to lose a lot of weight. Spoiler alert: it didn't happen. In the process of pushing my body too hard with workouts and crash dieting, my immune system went down and I also hit some of my absolute lowest points in terms of body image. I didn't come around until about a month before the wedding when I realized nothing was working and that I was actually hurting myself. At that point, I realized there was no way I would lose the weight and that I just needed to focus on enjoying my time with my husband to be! We ended up having a great Summer and on my wedding day, despite my weight, I felt more beautiful than ever! I think that was one of the first times that my weight doesn't (or shouldn't) define my happiness. Since then, my husband and I have really taken the time to get settled in our new home and to start building healthy habits together. Now that I don't feel pressured to lose the weight too quickly, I've been able to focus on small lifestyle changes rather than trying to do literally anything I could think of that would drop pounds. Anyway, these last couple weeks have been great. Last week at this time, I was seriously so amazed at the fact that I was losing weight that I must have weighed myself 5 times, thinking the scale was not working lol! Since Wednesday, I have gotten a little off track do to a big conference that a lot of my college friends and I attended (not to mention the Super Bowl today!) Hopefully as long as I keep up what I've been doing, the weight loss continues. My goal for this week is to continue to have primarily fruits and vegetables for breakfast and lunch followed by and pretty healthy dinner, go to the gym for cardio on the days that I can, and start an easy weekly bodyweight exercise plan.
