It’s been hard to be active in this game. Although my weight loss has been primarily successful, it hasn’t been due to good habits, but rather due to stress and then grief. My dearest friend and most loveliest person in this world that I know passed away. I was at her side when my mama took her last breath. I apologize in advance for bringing such depressing news to our little group, but in her honor I am even more committed to a life of health and well being. My mother suffered from many ailments, perpetrated by an unhealthy diet full of meat and dairy, then exacerbated by doctors feeding her tons of pills to “treat” her conditions. For years she took BP meds and bladder meds and cholesterol meds, none of which would cure her, but only make her worse. She used a cream called Voltaren, an OTC for pain. If you read the label it warns that it can cause internal bleeding and worsen her anemia and high BP. Doctor who gave her the pills to “treat” these conditions actually recommended the cream to her. Bottom line is we must be responsible for our own health. We must not follow current diet fads or take any medications without doing our own research. And we MUST use food over man made medication. Pharmaceutical companies are not our friends. My heart is broken from the loss I’m enduring but I will make sure her memory lives on through the lessons she endured.

  • What do you do when you’ve been doing everything right and your weight loss has stalled?

    A plateau can be so frustrating, especially when you feel like your doing what you should – or what has always worked in the past.

    I gathered some tips from to help us out. Read the full article for more detail.

    1. Do more strength training. More lean muscle boosts your metabolism and it doesn’t leave you as famished as a high-intensity cardio workout.

    2. Start measuring your portions. Overtime we can loosen our estimation of our portions and need a serving-size refresher.

    3. Try eating more! As you progress and workout more, your body actually needs more (healthy) food to burn calories.

    4. Add lean protein to every meal and snack. Protein will keep you full longer and may actually help lower your calorie intake for the day.

    5. Switch to shorter daily workouts. Shorter workouts may be better for weight loss, give you more energy for the day, and give you greater post-exercise oxygen consumption. (You’ll have to read the article for this one! 😀)

I think I get stuck in my head more than plateauing. I get overwhelmed with all of the different diets and ideas on what’s right and what’s not. I just spent an hour trying to find out if apple cider vinegar is good or bad for you and the answer I came up with is “yes”. -to both questions

I had a bad setback yesterday. I started binging crap after dinner and didn't stop until 9PM. COULDN'T stop. I was upset with myself, but just couldn't seem to stop. I ate a ton, lots of it was healthy-ish stuff too - a million pretzels, some havarti, a couple low carb protein bars, some keto peanut butter cups, a chaffle, and 2 glasses of wine. Probably more...I can't even remember. I am so ashamed, frustrated, and disappointed.

I don't know why this just hit me, although I did realize afterwards that I had been really irritated with my husband all day for absolutely no reason. I guess that's a start in figuring out why I binge.

The other silver lining is that my body physically rejected all that food. I woke up in the middle of the night and vomited. So I must be doing something right if my body isn't used to the abuse anymore.

Legos are little building bricks that you can make things with. They come in different colors, sizes, and shapes. You can buy kits with instructions to make things like buildings and vehicles. They are fun! :grinning:

I totally read this post wrong. I thought that Mollie was eating Lego (Which I thought must be an American chocolate that we don't have in the UK) #facepalm. Never for a minute did I think that the Lego was for distraction tool.

Round 1 epic fail… lost so many friends and family during the challenge now I’m ready to detox my body continue the walking I was doing, but I’m definitely going to be a lot stricter with my healthy eating/drinking choices. Me vs Me. Got another support group to keep me encouraged. More weight bearing exercises to get me back on schedule.

I have two scales. One in the guest powder room and one in my cellar. The one upstairs won’t show the reading in the weigh in photos I take for some reason, and that’s the one that weighs me lighter. So I have to use the cellar scale for weigh ins.

I have a scale like that as well that doesn’t show the numbers in a photo unless I tilt the phone at varying angles. It’s a dance back and forth each weigh in if I use that scale. My Renpho scales shows the numbers clearly though so that’s helpful.

Just had to deal with Covid the past seven days. No Pickleball play or other exercise. Had a bad cough and sore throat. Seem to be over the worse of it. I was having such great momentum in dropping pounds. Just did a non-official weigh-in and gained only .6 of a pound.

I’ve pretty much always tracked my calories on MyFitnessPal, but felt like I needed something new to just help with the monotony. So I joined weight watchers and now I’m counting points. I’ve done it in the past many years ago, but things are different. Any other WW people here?

I started before Christmas. Needed a change. I took a break for 2 weeks during the holidays but I’ve lost 10 pounds total which is awesome because I was stuck before that. Have lost about 75 pounds total and maintained 6 years.

Health and longevity first. Losing weight is important to that, but you should research keto and this role it plays on overall health. I recommend for this as it is non profit and not trying to sell snake oil. Dr. Greger and his team of researchers use science based information which is why they are my go-to for anything diet/health related.
