I missed it by a pound. It's ok though at least I'm going in the right direction. I know what the problem is. I snack constantly. What tips and tricks worked for you

You can change what you snack. I'm a big fan of carrots.

You can also hold yourself to a rule that you only eat seated at a table for eating (not a work desk!) and without any distractions -- no scrolling on your phone, no TV... That tends to curb mindless eating.

You can also try tracking your snack BEFORE you eat it and considering how eating it will affect your calorie budget for later meals.

I am a huge snacker and at my office there is always a basket of snacks. I am trying to work my "discipline muscle," by going past it and saying to myself "I am choosing not to eat this now, because I know I'll feel better." On the others hand, I do choose to eat a snack occasionally. I've gone from about 8 snacks a day to one every few days. I feel that's probably sustainable for me.

I didn’t make my round 1 goal. I am 1.5 lbs off. But you know what? I still lost 4.5 lbs. that’s still progress! And it should be celebrated! I’m not going to let not making this round get me down, because I am still successful at losing some weight!

Ok did we have the same starting weight lol I also am off of my goal by 1.5 lbs and am at 4.6 lost total and I am *just fine* with a rate of 1 lb a week!! Slow and steady will win the race

  • Since we’re almost done with round 1, I’m curious, what did you do to help change your mindset and break away from old habits?

For me, I kept my breakfast, lunch, and snacks the same on a weekly basis so I only had to really plan for dinner. I planned out a weekly dinner menu that included leftovers at least three times a week for our busy nights.

  • Ok, everyone! Two weeks left until our Round 1 weigh-in!

How are you feeling about that?

Many of us start off very strong with some big 2024 New Year goals and awesome motivation... but we all know the hard part is maintaining that momentum!

This is your reminder that perfection is the enemy of progress.

Has anyone found themselves going so gung-ho with making changes that they feel terrible when they slip up? Or, even worse, it can result in a downward spiral?

Slow and steady wins the race, and it's a lot easier to continue in the right direction if you have a little grace and focus on small changes and forward motion each day.

👉 Share if you have felt this or dealt with it in the past!

👉 Also, share what small, manageable changes you're making this time around!

I was doing well but slipped up during the blizzard and my hormones acting up. I lost some but regained some. Next month I'll plan for my cycle and make sure I stock up on foods that curb cravings. Also plan to stick with exercise as the snow leaves. Reminding myself it's a marathon not a sprint and I didn't put this weight on overnight, it'll take time and learning and bumps on the way to undo it.

I had a big drop the first few days, but nothing since. Trying to stay the course knowing I'm doing everything right. I hope the scale starts moving before the 1-month weigh-in!

You’re going out with friends to a Mexican restaurant. You don’t want to wreck the hard work and good choices you’ve made, but you’re also not wanting a salad. What do you order?

I'm laying in bed reading, and I just had the thought that I really really want to lose the weight properly and permanently this time. I lost about 40 lbs in 2017, and since then it's been a rollercoaster of losses and gains. Not much proper motivation, just short-term losing a few pounds and then not caring for a while again. But I just realised I really want to do it.

Let's go, people!!

Hey-o, similar situation here! Mine was a bit earlier that I lost my 40 lbs, but maintained for several years until about 2019.. then I got sick, pandemic, marriage went WAY south, and had a baby at 36

Kelli

Hello! Me too. I lost 40+ lbs in 2016 and that only took me to half way to my goal. Then it’s been a roller coaster ride for me too! I’m too old to be treating my body and health this way. It’s time to do it once and for all. Let’s make this a lifestyle change.

LinLin- we can do this!!!

  • Hello friends!! Happy New year!! My name is Andrea, or Annie. This is my before and after from my last DietBet Transformer January 2022 - June 2022. The results are absolutely outstanding!

I am a mom of two young children, wife to a brilliant Engineer & retired USAF Master Sergeant, an HR professional, planner & journaling influencer, and I’m also taking Program Management classes at LSU “for fun”. I don’t know how to slow down, and often that leads me to eating unhealthy.

In 2023, was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and I’m entering Perimenopause, and my body is super confused and I gained 15 pounds back last year. I’m hear to lose the 15 pounds I put on last year plus another 15.

Waybetter Kristin is an outstanding host, and we are SO lucky to have her guiding us through this journey.

Best of luck to you all!!

Hi Annie.. are you in BR?! I am!! Would *love* to have a local DB/working mom/back in school for some crazy reason friend

Annie

Hi Hope! I am actually in Minnesota! My niece and nephew go to LSU BR and love it, and my cousin is the mayor of Eunice and a hard core LSU fan, so I chose that as my online school. If you want to be accountability buddies, you can message me on Instagram, @annie_plans. We can’t meet up in person, but we can check in on each other!

It's so fun to watch this game grow and see all the support and sharing already filling our game! Keep it up! Community is what makes this so special.

If you’re new here, feel free to introduce yourself!

Let’s also take a minute to think about what we are doing this for. Share your “why” below or to the game feed. Also, give otheres a like if you have something in common or share a comment of encouragement!

You are amazing for believing in yourself enough to make this commitment! This is not easy and you may need to revisit your why from time to time, so this is a great time to write it out and display it somewhere as well!

My biggest why is because I want to be able to do more service related activities. I have some health issues that are probably never going away (per docs), but I’m finally at a point where I can try to live somewhat normally again, instead of just aimlessly surviving the pain day after day. One thing a person told me last year that really stuck with me is, “if you don’t spend it (money and time) on your health, you’ll spend it on your illness”. I’m fed up of being sick and want to do what I can on my good days to improve the likelihood that I have more of them :)

I have had a slew of medical issues this past year from multiple bouts with COVID, pneumonia, and demobilization from blown discs in my lumbar. Weight is always a factor in my overall health and I need to get it under control. My wife and I have an active family with 6 kids at home ranging from 3-17 years old and I hate that I cannot be more active or energetic with them.

I tried to stay away from dietbet but I just can’t seem to maintain. Starting 2024 in a better place healthwise than I have the past few years so I am feeling more motivated and hopeful than usual to get back to where I want to be. So I figured I’d give this one more shot. Beach vacation planned for July and I’d love to feel great in a bathing suit!

Hello all 👋 this is incredibly frustrating and yet impressive that I've found it in me to try another time. I spent a TON on a private health coach, just to get very overwhelmed with the constant texting and what eventually felt like nagging :( I would say what worked in the past, and I felt like he would shoot me down and insist I had to do it his way. So, that was a learning experience and I am ready to do this *my* way. I'm starting small with focusing on getting water in and eating balanced meals with emphasis on protein and veg. Today felt great! I am truly trying to embrace "one meal at a time"- even one day at a time seems too overwhelming, but I can make good choices one meal at a time <3 good luck to everyone!!

I had the same sort of experience. I spent a ton of money on someone that had me eating the exact same thing every day for a month, higher carbs and doing really heavy weights that left me exhausted. I'm doing my own thing that works for me...protein and veggies and cardio kickboxing! It worked for me when I lost 175 lbs of baby weight between 3 kids, I know it'll work again. One meal at a time is a great way of looking at things, good luck!

Jessie

I'm sorry you had such a terrible experience! I can't imagine how much that must have hurt your heart and derailed your efforts. I hope this method is healthier and less stressful for you. If you find that you still want someone to talk to, Weight Watchers meetings are really supportive and safe.
