I just read, that you are also training for a marathon. That's so cool. Good luck. :)

Caryl P.

Thanks. I'm currently dealing with a slight injury but seeing a Physical Therapist who thinks I'll be fine for it in 3 weeks. I did 20 miles on Sunday and now trying to rest and heal while I taper. Your comment was so true about JM. I thought whoever pretended to be her would at least post a little bit more in the group and it would be more interactive. I'm doing Shaun T now, him or his bot is posting a lot more already though no responses. I guess the positive is that I wouldn't have heard about Dietbet if I didn't follow JM on fb and saw a post about it and the people in the group are quite motivating. That was all really long. :-)

Thanks for the advice. This is my 2nd marathon. I did my first 5 yrs ago - NYC. It was pretty bad though as I didn't train enough. This is like a redemption marathon though I've signed up for NYC in Nov as well. I'm following the Runner's World plan. I've just completed two weeks of 16-mi long runs and this weekend I'm doing the NYC half marathon. The week after that I'm ramping up to 18mi which I'll do for 2 weeks then up to 20. Now that the weather is nicer I plan to do some hill speed work. I love rolling hills as both Prospect and Central park are continuous rolling hills. I do a lot of half marathons and I hate flat sections, I find that the toughest so hopefully I'll enjoy Big Sur.

Hi Caryl, Im not sure if this is your 1rst M. or not, but do follow your training plan- you want to feel good knocking out a 20m long run soon & incorporate hill work (treadmill if needed-temps were good-cool/misty start but I wore a tank/skorts/gloves-warm finish. There is rolling hills but not bad, the 2m. long hill is a hill but not as bad as the reviews-just get in the zone. My PR before Big sur was a 4:04 & I believe I came in @ 4:17 which was 17 min. ahead of my projected (they say add .30 min. to your PR) so I was pleased! Its super fun-the sites/entertainment was fantastic the whole way. Do take your phone for a couple epic pictures(I took a great one as I turned around to a sea of runners along the cliffs/ocean), just dont waist time if your trying to hit a good time. Dont carry hydration-they have plenty of aid stations-check out the site if they have gels(cant remember) Just have a great time-super fun one which went by really quickly. Actually my profile picture is..cont..
