I'm workin' and workin' and hoping I make it. I thought this month would be a slam dunk. I felt so close after last month. But, despite following my plan, my weight-loss has stalled. And, now, I'm having to dial things in to try to make this month's goal. Agh. I'm tired of "the fight."

Hey all. I'm really sorry, but I need to vent. Last night, I was at my parents house & my Mom & I were discussing someone we know who had weight loss surgery. My mom didn't know she'd had the surgery, but I follow her on Instagram so I was telling her what she had to do before, etc. and it was just a friendly discussion. My mom began praising her, which is awesome (I was too) for all the work she's put in because this girl is very proud. Out of now where my mom says, "YOU could get that surgery!!" I've been on ups and downs since losing a large amount of weight, but this kind of hurt my feelings. I don't have any problem with having weight loss surgery and it's a great option, but I've been losing the weight steadily on my own & I am working on my binge eating. It was just just like an oh damn, okay, so what I'm doing still isn't good enough....

Trust me I totally get that my moms the same way with me… telling me to go run, asking how the progress is going( which it’s finally going good for once) you’re not alone girl!


That’s a bummer. It’s tough when parents bring us down with what they say. Try not to attach emotionally to it. I know that’s easier said than done.

Lol I love your tenacity! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: seriously though! Don’t count yourself out yet! It’s mostly water weight! You don’t gain 10lb of fat in one week! Take a water pill and assess the damage in a couple days!

Diet idea... and asking for any knowledgeable advise, or opinions are great too. Lol.

So I’ve always done my diets base off calories on no this or low that. I’ve had an idea cross my mind lately of doing a more quality diet (as I would call it).

Of instead of counting calories keep more of an eye of my vitamin and mineral intake... I guess in a way do some research and digging on which foods have the most nutritious values and go with those instead of trying to reach a calorie count. But I fear that because of this the calorie intake could be SUPER low... would that be ok as long as I get the daily nutrients?

I agree. For me, meal logging helps me to get a true-er idea of how often I’m snacking. Other than that, focusing on nutrition as opposed to restriction is good for me. If you’re interested in increasing raw vegan meals in your week, Lissa’s Raw Food Romance is a great approach. She can be found on Instagram, etc.

I recently discovered Marty Kendall and Nutrient Optimisation. He has YouTube videos and a website and meeting nutrient goal is a focus that helps with satiety and therefore weight loss.

Erica, I absolutely relate to that! I was the same in grad school and have really struggled with not being able to feed a whole family instead of just myself. We can do it!!

I was doing an hour class at the gym 5x a week and running on Saturday. I was eating a lot of fruits and vegetables, particularly a big salad or soup for lunch everyday. I was not snacking.

These are great reminders! I want to feel like my best self again!

    -Sticking to my meal plan;
    -Fueling up on nutritious, delicious, energizing, and satisfying food;
    -Sleeping 8 hours;
    -Sticking to one serving of Skinny Pop popcorn;
    -Drinking 160 oz of water; and
    -Learning about burnout from Brene Brown and the Nagowski twins.

I went on a long bike ride because it sounded like fun. :blush:


None of those other things sound as impressive as sticking to one serving of popcorn. Kudos!!!!

Any tips for unwinding at the end of the day?!? Today was a super productive day, but now I'm left feeling completely exhausted and all I want to do is turn the TV on and eat some comfort food.

I'm trying to change my habits but haven't found one to replace this splurging behavior (which is what I do when I'm mentally exhausted but not ready for bed , or when I'm super stressed). Doesn't help that my weight seems to have plateaued, just making me more stressed.

I love to do dance videos on YouTube. I know you said unwind…sometimes it is something that helps me get out stress or energy, and feel more connected with my body. Hip hop videos, Zumba, there’s tons of free ones, even ones to all Disney songs. I think they’re fun.
