Feeling so frustrated! I've been at goal for a week now, and then my stupid "monthly visitor" shows up and brings 4 pounds!! Ugh. Crossing fingers it falls off by tomorrow- but it's not looking good 😕

  • Well my awesome momentum has crashed and burned. It was death by candy corn. Or should I say candy corns, plural- since I ate 75 of them in about an hour!!! Yes I counted- I made a strict pact with myself to track my points no matter what. The scale informed me that 75 candy corns equals about a 5 pound water weight gain, and my stomach informed me that it will basically turn inside out and tie up in permanent knots if I ever do that again! But oh- they were delicious! I'm one of the weirdos that truly loves candy corn- like, it should be called "halloween crack" as far as I'm concerned. My kid's babysitter brought them by and all my resolve crumbled. So glad I only have them around once a year!!!!

Thanks for sharing the water weight trade off. It really puts your experience in perspective: 75 candy corns = +5 lbs on the scale.

From those who comment, I will select a winner at random. I will email this person (using the email address associated with his/her DietBet account). Well I smashed my week 2 goal! Wanted to be 65% of the way to goal at the half point so there wouldn't be as much pressure on the last 2 weeks... And this morning my weigh in got me to 82%! I can't believe what a difference commitment and consistency are making! I know I shouldn't be that shocked that the thing that every single expert says will work is actually working, but somehow my brain never believed that small changes consistently over time were that effective. Now I know.

Thanks! You can do it- as long as you believe it. That's the biggest change from previous games I think. I've chosen to believe in myself enough to keep going even when it really really sucks

I started weight training a few weeks ago & while I look and feel fine, the scale isn’t budging at all. I know muscle weighs more than fat but UGH! I gotta stop focusing so much on the numbers...but that’s kinda what DietBet is lol I’m supposed to be losing weight. #BigOOF

I’m with you Toni! I started at a new gym 2 weeks ago and coincided this DietBet with my starting the gym! I’m realizing the same predicament you’re also in. While I can tell I’m gaining muscle and becoming stronger the scale isn’t budging as much as I thought it would. I’m REALLLLLLY trying to work on diet and eating enough to keep gaining muscle while not being so focused on the scale. I want to fuel my workouts while ALSO moving the scale in the right direction. Tia R’s advice was great!! Thank You for commenting in length. Science behind why the scale isn’t moving is ok with me and a great reminder of patience and not a quick fix.

I want to eat all things today. I have been tracking today and have been good but damn.

What are your favorite tricks to curb the cravings?

Water, and more water! Plus I cleaned out my fridge and hide all the kids snacks to keep temptation at bay. I also like chewing gum or sucking on a lemon drop to keep my mouth occupied. I'm doing weight watchers, so I don't have specific banned food list. I found that it's helpful when I'm really craving chocolate or something, instead of going out and buying a tub of Ben & Jerry's, I eat a piece of dove dark chocolate and almonds. Giving myself permission to have a small amount of what I'm really really craving helps to nip it in the bud. Though that approach does take the commitment to only have one piece, which can sometimes be harder than avoiding it completely! You'll figure out what works for you- You got this!

  • I have to keep reminding myself of this! The last few weeks have been a lot of effort, and sometimes it seems like the results won't be worth it.

    But the absolute WORST thing you can do is keep starting over! Losing the same pounds over and over and expecting it to get you to your weight loss goal is like trying to run across the country on a treadmill. Any time going backwards is a regular part of the plan, you're never going to get anywhere.

    I've decided to keep moving forward one ounce at a time. I'm nowhere near a place where I'm feeling great and energetic and fit, but I am super glad I'm not where I was 2 weeks ago when I started!

Yasssssss!!! I am getting back on track right now! Yesterday I had a burger and fries and half a shake because my sister came over to have lunch on the deck. I hadn’t seen her in ages. She had a taste for that food. But I didn’t eat anything else yesterday so besides still feeling full I won’t be flustered. Today will be about some hot water and maybe an early cutoff on food. Raisins help me with my sweets fix. Thank you for your message. Thank you so much.

Did my weekly weigh in, and I'm 44% of the way to my goal! I was shooting for 40% (since I knew my first week would be the highest thanks to water weight loss) so it feels awesome to be this far already. I haven't made my last few diet bet goals, and have really wanted to be committed this time around. So glad it paying off! 😀
