I have to ask a question. Can counting calories get you off your meds? I'm pre-diabetic and about to start taking meds. They want me doing low carb and I hate it.

Well, I've been diabetic for about 7? years now, but I also have a thyroid issue. I've learned from my endocrinologist that because I've been diabetic so long, my pancreas is only working 50%, it will never come back. So you need to fix this while you're still in the pre-diabetic range. So, counting calories won't do squat as far as the bêtes goes. I talked to my dietician (who's also a good friend, and she knows how I like to eat my carbs!) and for my weight (250 lbs) she suggested this plan (and I was losing weight and for the most part staying under 1500 calories with it too): breakfast-30, lunch-45, snack-30, dinner-45-60 and snack 15-30. Each meal is required, but obviously they're all small for the most part. Good luck to ya chicky!
