  • A bit of a perplexing issue.

    ?I had the whole burger guessing a cup of broccoli 3/4 of the apple with a little bit of caramel sauce and half of the yellow pepper. I was beyond stuffed before I even ate the pepper but I wanted a little more veggies for lunch. Yet a 1/2 hour later I was hungry again. It shouldn’t be that I was thirsty I was already at 90 ounces and had 16 ounces before I had lunch and another 16 as I was eating lunch. Have any of you found that you had to have some type of fat or certain fat at every meal? I already know I need a little bit of fat with my breakfast meal so I do low fat yogurt instead of fat-free. In reality I still had fat in my lunch because of the burger I had. I did go and get a cheese stick along with a bubbler drink and that seemed to help. I’m gonna do some tracking and see how it goes but this is a problem I’ve had for years I can have a humongous lunch and I’m hungry a half hour later. When I talk to the nutritionist about a couple years ago she even found it perplexing. I do know I can’t overdo it with carbs at lunch Or I will have a major afternoon crash.???????

    Anyone else ever have this issue?

As I’ve eliminated sugar and flour from my diet, I’ve been eating protein and veggies plus 1 T fat at lunch and dinner. I find the whole/healthy foods feel like they digest much quicker I am often hungry an hour after eating. But I ignore it and it goes away. 4 hours later I will realize it went away and I was fine until my next meal. I know I was so used to eating often/whenever I felt “un full” that feeling that “hunger” would cause me to eat again. Try ignoring it and feel how your body feels.

  • Will you get on the scale today?

    I decided to get on the scale this morning. I had planned to wait a few days after thanksgiving before doing so, but then I thought through that idea and realized the best plan was to get on that scale, own it, and make a plan of action. I am up, which I anticipated. But what would have happened if I had not gotten on the scale today? My guess is that I would be snacking for the next few days on all the leftovers. Instead, I have a plan for my workouts and what I will eat the next few days so that I am back on track right now. Not waiting till Monday.

    There are 2 weeks and two days left until this diet bet ends. What do you want to see on the scale then?

    What will you do today to get you one step closer to that goal?

    My plan: spinning class, a morning smoothie, and a reasonable portion for meals. And no more holiday treats. The holiday is over. No more pumpkin pie, no more cinnamon rolls, no more wine.

    Delayed gratification: you can have all the treats. You just need to plan ahead for them and fit them in to your plan. You don’t need to have all the treats all the time.

    Choose: what leftover will fuel your body and help you feel good and help you get closer to your goals? What portion size will be healthy and fit in your plan?

    And don’t use your body as a garbage can. Your body is not a garbage can!

    XYZ: Remember Ilana’s XYZ podcast. After you eat (y) how will you feel (z)? Will Y make you feel healthy and energized and happy and fuel your body and your plan for the day? Or will it make you feel sick, yucky, disgusted, and or sad and disappointed? What will you choose? How do you want to feel?

I brought my scale home with me so that I could get on everyday. I'm right there with you - if I didn't bring it or weigh myself, I would have eaten more (and definitely drank more) yesterday, and it would be harder to be healthy today. I was up about .4-5 pounds today which I'm actually quite proud of. What a difference from every other Thanksgiving. I'm still fighting to lose any net weigh off my starting weight for this dietbet because last week I was binging left and right and two Thanksgivings, but here I am, showing up and doing my best. Went out a Bikram yoga class this morning to sweat out the double chin ;)
